They're not named shiny rock for me anymore anyway. I had a single one of those near my starting point, that got observed and mined a long time ago. :) And then I saw a number of these plants and thought I was good. But the farming of that stuff failed too often, and I got a fantastic weapon blueprint (Railgun Sniper 2.0, two people with that one got rid of a swarm of about 20 shriekers plus a couple of beetles and one Juno or something all by themselves. I had Rita with a Pulse Rifle standing guard in front of them, but she never got the opportunity to open fire.
Anyway, I haven't built automated turrets yet, so I need more CPU ... And all of the other rocks I saw on the map are just rocks. Not even the normal ore for metal that also occasionally drops Silicon. Nothing.
CPU and Electronics (for building more power generators) are what I want to print with that Silicon. :) And those power cells would get used as well. See my previous comment about that Railgun Sniper 2.0. :D
You could have access at silicon in the cratere of some meteor with ore (meteor rain) or in some nod (if you could, dismantle or trigger rain meteor in tachyon mission)
Is more easy to be in the green biome than the desert biome.
For CPU and powercell do a lot of expedition in balloon
