Is the robot DLC worth it?
I'm not exactly keen on the swarms of pests that I constantly have to fight and prefer to play on medium/easy and peace first. However I do enjoy Saltu. Does the robot update come with a new map? Is there just 1 senario?

No new map, and just 1 scenario. But, you can use the new harvest and service bots in the other scenarios. That makes it worth it to me.

On a side note, you could use the following mod.

When you don't want any attack just go to options ingame and set the attack wave to 0.
Then after you have build your base and think, hmm let's test this, go to options again and set it to 50, 100 or higher % perhaps.

Thanks for that :)

+1 have just put the DLC in my cart and was wondering myself!

Playing the DLC now. It's ok. I guess my only real issue with the added bots that can be used in other scenarios is that by the time you'd be able to build them you're pretty much done with the scenario anyways. So they're only really good if you plan on playing a long playthrough. Even then, you'll have to find stuff for your survivors to do while the bots take care of everything. I usually run out of busy work by the time I could legit build any bots anyways.

It's still worth it, just not as useful as I had hoped.

It would be fun to play a solo run and build a huge robot workforce and army.

The DLC was a letdown. Delivery drones are a big help but base game has it with the update. Agree with BioFringe. The service/harvest bots are not useful by the time you are able to get them. They ARE useful only in the Trading Outpost scenario - because you want/need to overproduce to sell. Guardians scenario was meh. The biggest letdown is devs not using the opportunity to fix glaring bugs in the game.

oh right; guess i'll leave it then. i'm enjoying the drones from the update.

I find the harvester drones very useful. When i have a couple i disable scavenging and mining for all my survivors and let the robots walk across the map to salvage debris. Now that i know that you can enable their nametag in the options menu i can keep track of where they are should they be returning without a work order, e.g. recalling them to their station.

Also when i let my people clear the nests of bugs the robots will do the mining.
No worries about people getting hungry, sleepy or needing entertainment.

Should a robot get wrecked by an aggressive spawn the robot core will always drop and it will get picked up by delivery drones and you build a new one.

I disliked the DLC campaign and abandoned it halfway through. However, the items are good and I use them a lot in my games. Also, there is a mod that allows you to activate the robot attacks in the base game and I use that too to spice up combat, especially later in the game. I don't recommend the DLC for the story but for the items and new enemies, it's great.

The big change with the DLC campaign is the nature of the enemy waves. Instead of being attacked by local wildlife, you face waves of drones armed armed with a mix of melee and ranged weapons. Much less bug meat, much more electronic components and scavenged weaponry. I believe the devs said the hungry wildlife event can still happen, and you still have insect nests spread about the map, but other than that you are mainly fighting the mechs.

Well sort of, it adds a lot of stuff that makes the game better, like robots, better defenses and all that, however, no mixed scenario. After you got the robot girl to become self aware, that's that.

My biggest gripe with the game is that it does not have a scenario that mixes threats, the very limited types of threats. Bots and bugs. You can either have one or the other. I think they should work on a proper global scenario, like Rimworld where you get attacked by all types of things, were there are several ways to achieve victory.

Anyway, this game is good, but it could be great if they follow the formula of the game that inspired it, Rimworld.

Weeee, free carbon and power cell delivery service.

Lol Stimpacker :-D

Seems it's pretty much RNG on who will attack and what they drop though :-/
