So hay makes bricks?
Great game so far

But I am at a loss understanding how hay makes bricks?

Can we not have clay pits?

The clay part is assumed, and as much time as it takes to make bricks, hay, plus sticks for fuel plus time means they are expensive enough.

So on this one item they decided to toss accuracy out the door.

Maybe clay will be a DLC

Hay has been used in brick making pretty much forever. Historically accurate.

You don't just step out of your spaceship and doodly walk around on an alien planet with million or billions of years of flora and fauna evolution and expect not to die pretty soon either. So some leeway when it comes to (space)games is needed.

Not in a furnace it wasn't. Hay obviously never got fired up. Your thinking of mud and hay mortar.

It's a SciFi game. What does accuracy have to do with anything? You're on an alien planet. Have some suspension of disbelief and enjoy yourself.

Balance and Accuracy aren't always on the same page.

Then you can also talk about clothblossom immediately being cloth without a loom present. Rimworld did the same thing. I'm not going to complain because it's hard enough to keep everyone dressed as it is.

Or how there are several machines that produces materials out of thin air.

I got so sick of fighting the clothing mill that I downloaded the Riley Star cheat goddess to just make her Wears like Iron armor set, looks pretty silly when 20 people are running around in it.

Like Keystone Cops meets Aliens.

The Girl is ridiculous, box a herd of whatever in and she steps out the back door and 1/2 shots everything from Home Sweet Home.^^

I know that you're probably referring to the general concept of Keystone Cops...BUT does anyone remember that game from back in the 80s? I can't remember if it was on a console like the Atari 2600 or on PC.

Yes, in a furnace, sort of. It's a form of adobe brick called a quemado. The are fired at a relatively low temperature, but the only real difference from the game is that the rather than being put in an existing furnace, the furnace, itself, was built out of sun-dried bricks and then the fire was lit inside.

hay and mud was also sundried. Not fired

They definitely were. You'd make bricks out of hay and a mud rich in clay, mix in sand, form them into bricks, in some cases they would sun dry them (unfired bricks), and in other cases would fire them in a kiln to strengthen the bricks (fired bricks). Ancient Egyptians, Mesopotamians, etc. all used this practice for construction.

https://ulukayin.org/sumerian-architecture/

"Finally, after the bricks are removed from their molds, they are left to dry in the sun or in a well-ventilated area. During this process, the water inside the bricks evaporates, and the bricks become thoroughly hardened. In this last stage, bricks can sometimes be hardened more quickly by kiln-driving"
