Update in the future?
Do this game will have any update or DLC in the future? Because the game still lack so many aspect of simulation game.

Thanks man, see many DLC there maybe we will have a mode that have better story and longer game play.

Trade Outpost scenario is good for longer play. The buying of the planet is to give you a sort of end goal but you can keep on playing. Perhaps aim to acquire all tech from trade ships etc.

I just hope the next update allow us for custom scenarios rather forcing us to play single types.

There are some mods that handle water. i tried some of them and it sure adds some extra dimension.
Sanitation, showers, water needed to prepare your veggie food etc.

Not to be Argumentative, but how is this game not already a SandBox; Especially with the Trade Scenario, but also Crash Landing? While they both may have an End Game, neither Forces You or Require You to Fulfill the End Game; which means You can Build and Expand to your Hearts Content.

I believe with with Crash Landing there is a Max Number of Survivors, but that makes Sense (You CRASHED on an Abandoned Planet). And with Trade Scenario I believe the Max is only limited by the number of Survivors to whom You have access. And with the Camp Management Technology you can even build Completely separate Colonies which function as its own Entity.

In any case... that's the way I see it; I'm curious... when you say SandBox how do You see it?

First, i love that Game, it´s different than any other sim colonie game.
The only Problem here for Sandbox is the limitation for everything, and the Core function the game has with definied survivors, everything works with Szenarios, that´s how the Game is programmed, it would take a tremendous time to make a proper Sandbox, but it would make more sense to make a new game to that regard.

I just played to much Rimworld, Going Medieval and other similiar Colonie Sim Games, so i´m just dreaming but this will never be happen, but i´m fine with that because S:AD has it´s own strengths.

But the Mod: Project X following a good Idea of how a Sanbox can actually work. No Goals, just growing.

I'm still not seeing it; but either way most/many games do come with a Straight Sand-Box (Zero Goals, other than Survive), so it is odd they don't have that; and who knows, with the next DLC maybe that will be included. As for myself, once I'm done with the Trade Scenario, I want to do the Hope Scenario; and after that I would just want to SandBox it myself, but for me, the Trade Scenario is Perfect as it comes with something more than 'Just' Survival; the whole Trading with the Local Galaxy :D... "A Purpose in Life" (grin).

As others have pointed out before, this game isn't really a sim, it's a tower defense. Your people crash or land, build a temporary base and defend it against wave after wave of attackers until you reach your goal. You can extend the play as long as you want by simply not achieving the goal, but then what's the point?

I think if you really Stretched the Definition of Tower Defense, you could almost call anything by that term. But as a Sim... besides the fact that this Is Not a Temporary Base, You've got Survival Mechanics, You've got Personalities at play, Merchant Business, Crafting that is far more than just Advanced Defenses, Character Development, Individual Skill Sets, and So much more. Ultimately if you wanted to call any game a Tower Defense Game in which you have to defend against an Enemy, then even Civilization would be a Tower Defense Game; but the fact is; Tower Defense, is as You described it; just building defenses against Wave after Wave of Enemies, but that's the Beginning and End of that game.
