Trading Outpost Suggestions
How different are these scenarios?

I've played the Trading Outpost 3 times now and I'm looking to start my first run of the Crash Landing scenario. Just curious if I'm in for a big surprise or if they are mostly the same in most regards.

You will notice that getting more people will be a weee bit harder.
That alone will make it a totally different game imo.
o
Edit: I could say more but i think that is up for you to experience. I don't want to go into to many details of a scenario when you're starting a new one.

And I know that Trading is out so general strategy to "win" will be on a different focus instead.

In my 3 playthroughs of the Trading Outpost I never had more than 4 at one time anyways so I think I should be ok with the number of survivors overall. Most of the time I just played with the 3 that I started with and would add the freebee that would occasionally come around for half a year here and there.

I mostly play the Trader Scenario. Just because i want many people and build experimental bases of larger sizes. I don 't care about the objective really.

Anyway, good luck with your Crash Landing game, i hope it changes things up for you :-D

Thanks. As you might already be able to tell, I'm a fan of the Trading Outpost. I'll come back to it but there's a couple of achievements that I want to try for in the meantime. Just for fun...not for completion sake.

Crash Landing ... IMO, its the sandbox. You get to the point where the games can be extremely short once you know what you're doing. I lost interest in it quickly, but consider the source, I don't like sandboxes.

TRADER - You have a goal to buy the planet you crash land on. They try to make it more challenging but if you know the game, you can work (easily) with anything they throw at you. I think this is the game.

MILITARY - This is just the scenario for those out there that think the 9,634,128 combat games out there aren't enough. You just have to build your resources up ... build this contraption and then hold the base while the game throws increasingly larger at you at an increased rate.

The Sentient game ... I haven't figured out and I just gave up on it. It's either bugged or I missed something I don't care about ... because the scenario just repeatedly ends on my with no explanation except an "X was devastated by the crash", goodbye. ::shrug!:: And what's said, is ... I just don't care.

I'm not sure how many hours I have in the game now ... I'm sure its a few. I so wanted this game to be the improved 3D RimWorld. It not, and its never going to be because that's not where the Dev's want to take it and I'm OK with that. It's their game, I got money's worth. It's time to go write my "meh" review and move on to the next game.

Well, that was a lot more fun than I expected. Now that that is done it's time to try a Solo run.

Any suggestions?

For solo (which I haven't done) my friend swears by Ken. He's interested in crafting things, enjoys killing things, and doesn't really have that many draw backs.

Ken is super slow with research but yea, great for scavenging, cutting, mining, killing, crafting. In solo play, research is the main drag. You don't need a lot of defenses, large farms nor fancy buildings or fortifications. The bug attacks scale down to match what you have.

I really like several of the offered survivors but I have core peeps for just a casual game I play in one screen while I work in another ... in order: Jack is ALWAYS on my team, then Ken, then Rita, then Kat or Nova depending on the mission I'm playing.

I like Connor alot, but .... he's programmed to die on you (heart attack) and the only mission I've found that gives you more peeps is Crash Landing, that is unless you want to hire them in the trader mission.
