Had to google the term. Respect to devs dropped a lot in instance. Cant believe anyone can be this level of uneducated.... Just to say it kindly. How can be world this stupid to even come to creating/using such a stupid term like this...
Only thing is with twitter, a lot of mental gymnastic and madness is pushed beyond the limit of social perception. Problem is Steam is open globally, not all culture react the same. Yeah the script is insulting to some people.
There are probably a lot of men that do 'mansplaining' without not even being aware of it, until they saw the term here or other places. Only meaning to be helpful, and not being aware it could be seen as condescending. Then maybe try to be less condescending the next time they explain something.
We've learnt a lot of similar things from American sit-coms and such over the decades... Seinfeld ftw...
Note, I'm not even saying it's bad or good (although I do think it's absolutely made-up and dumb), I'm asking a different question - "WHY?".
The twitter croud does NOT play this game. They are too busy fighting virtual battles. The type of game this is, it's played by 30+ year old males, BY FAR. Seeing this the dev effectively insults them - doesn't matter if they should or shouldn't be insulted, the fact is, it really rubs them the same way. So, WHY even do that? It's just bad business and plain stupid, in a true sense of the word. Guess same question could be addressed to Disney and the rest of the companies that are failing left and right.
But, oh well, I know they don't care, as they continue to project their twitter values unto cultures and people who just shrug and laugh at the idiocy.
And if you think that 90% of the people playing games are men then I have some 'splaining to do.
@DarkDvr: Browsing through your history of postings you seem to be a person very often agitated and upset about everything. No need bro. There is nothing here, just a word.
Also, it's funny how yall are attacking me directly instead of arguing my point, which remains - "why offend the solid majority of your players with western ideological twitter lingo?"
The developers just made a game according to the work order they were given. If anything, the one giving that work order is where complaints should be filed.
Perhaps we are just "Old" as i too sometimes struggle with these new things.
*Shrug*
Your inability to take a joke is on YOU. The entire world does not have to change because YOU may be offended. YOU are the one who needs to learn tolerance towards others.
Incredibly insecure and offensive all over the place...
Anyway, I've been rewatching the tv-show M*A*S*H recently, which I do every few years. My all time favourite show. Some of the jokes there haven't aged very well, and would probably not have been made today.
For example, one of the doctors (Winchester) is asked to chip in with cleaning the sheets during a crisis when many of the personnel (mainly nurses) have been sent away due to shelling of the camp, on which he replies:
"Clean, me? I'm a doctor, not a woman!"
It reflects what kind of character he is, mainly, and everyone understand how rude it is, and he is the joke. The series is full of stuff like that. The 70s and 80s were very different, though!
