You just need to keep a wee bit of food for them in reserve in case a cold winter kills the grass and you need a feeder.
All your people have to do is pick up the poop and bottle it in to fuel at the crafting table and occasionally plant a new grass.

The trading vessels that come by don't have enough money to be particularly useful, only occasionally have chew root, and you might as well just go ahead and slap down one set of diesel generators tied to a battery monitor and expect to never really use them if you've built a sufficient number of batteries. In a relatively short span of time the attacking bots will start packing enough salsa to keep Hope wildly oversupplied so you'll no longer have to worry about using fuel to make that for her. Flamethrowers are not even slightly useful against a bunch of bots, so that's out as well. Power cells, electronics, scrap metal, guns, and even a massive quantity of nanotubes will simply keep arriving on the regular, courtesy of the enemy robot forces. I'm literally powering my battlebots with power cell generators on the same circuit as the turrets, just because I've got like 1,000 of the darn things...
Oh, and don't let anyone but Hope do any research because 50-60 spec-op bots, 100 walking turrets, 200 G-2000's and 100-odd flyers all at once is definitely a possibility if you get stuck with everything researched and she's still at 80% sentience.
Ya best way is to make a decently large farm for larger animals since they produce the most manure... however you will also need to make sure the food they eat is in large supply.
