Either check the box so they fight back or simply draft the survivors, gather them as a group and have them fight the attackers manually.
What about the ear plugs? How do to exploration missions away from the camp?
Music instruments are fine "near" bedrooms. But "in" bedrooms is probably a bad idea.
@Son-goku's got you covered on your other questions.
I don't think the music will be a problem but could be wrong...
Earplugs? Never used them but sometimes when a survivor is sleeping they can be disturbed by someone else. I would make a guess that this debuff is reduced with the plugs?....
For exploration research balloons...
Have you played the tutorials?
For exploration, research and then build a balloon. Then you can send out one survivor for an exploration or to scavenge a found location
Just started... and yes... bugs came rushing into camp, all boxes are checked, no one fights they stay sleeping. I clicked on each one to go to a tower, and nothing makes them move. They wait until the bugs are on them instead of getting up and running to towers. Not sure how to make them use towers.
Drafting is what you want to do when you are under attack, always. To draft survivors, select them and click the "Draft" button. To undraft them when you are done, do the the same but click the "undraft" button.
Just as an aside, drafting is also actually useful for hunting prior to getting decent weapons, because every survivor in range will attack targets when drafted. If left to hunt on their own, only one survivor will shoot at any given hunt target.
1) I keep weapons in a wardrobe and only tell survivors to equip them when the "aggressive animals" warning pops up. This keeps them from deteriorating fast. Then unequip when all bugs are dead. At the beginning when you only have crossbows, it doesn't matter.
2) If it's ground animals, then I draft and move survivors to the defensive position about 5 hours after the notice. If it's flying bugs, then 3 hours after notice. They'll attack soon after that. They go for your survivors, so if they're still inside house, bugs may attack nearby walls instead of going to your deathtrap.
