What's the trade off for Mobile Turrets not requiring power?
I have been through the Guardians scenario a few times without ever getting around to researching the Mobile Turrets, but finally am using them in my current run. And the first thing I noted is that they do not use electricity, at all.

Considering getting electricity in place and sufficient to support turrets is probably the most resource (and time) intensive aspect of getting turret defense set up, that seems a little OP for the mobile turrets.

There has to be a trade-off, that I'm not recognizing here. Anyone can clue me in?

I believe they require power cells for construction? Not sure what will happen once that thing runs out of power.

They do, but only 1. And power cells are pretty plentiful just through salvaging. Especially in the Guardian's scenario (from the fallen enemies).

They also don't have a power-bar, so I don't think they ever "run out". Just use a cell to build and that's it.

Edit: I just figured out the trade off though, now that you mention building them. The power cell requirement is not all that big of a deal, but they ALSO require a AI core. And a metric ton of metal to build.

Overall, the build resource cost on them is pretty high compared to regular turrets. With how much material you get from salvaging enemies in the Guardian scenario, that didn't even register in my mind. But on other scenarios all those resources 'per turret' would be pretty expensive.

They dont seem worth it to me. The construction on robot mission isnt bad. But how weak and low armed they feel makes me choose turrets over mobile. And for mobile I use assault drones mostly.

Yah, the one thing I don't even know yet is how much damage the mobile turrets even do.

Though I built one at the time I made this thread, no enemies have yet to get within range for it to shoot anything. My normal Laser turrets and sniper-rifle-armed survivors have, so far, always killed all the robots before they get within range of the mobile turret that I built.

I just now have built some battle drones too, curious how they perform.

I had group of 500 mixed attack my gate and 30 or so turrets "mixed" killed them all pretty well. "On easy". BUT when 100 or so tiny things attacked my 3 mobile almost got insta killed. True not fair comparison due to counts.. but those 3 barely killed anything in time took get my people drafted and run to other side of base. I thought would do some thing, but killed maybe 5? Then got over whelmed and moving they cant shoot.. so almost got destroyed.

Also out of the 100 maybe 20-40 went towards my turrets at once.

Well, I would assume that mobile or not you would want defensive walls/fences between your mobile turrets and the enemy, just like any other attacking thing you use. It sounds like you just expected them to be tanking the enemies?

Kinda I guess. I didnt epect them to completely hold them off. Just delay them so my troops could arrive to do real battle. And since was tiny bugs I expected more out of them in the short time. plus I thought would be able to move and fire so could do a retreating combat action. But they had to stop to shoot. I had a wall but spot they hit was inside my fence :-/ So didnt have protection for them.

EDIT - since only 20-40 came at them and tiny bugs I expected some kills out of it. Also they spawned INSIDE my defenses grrr lol So my fences were useless.
