They also don't have a power-bar, so I don't think they ever "run out". Just use a cell to build and that's it.
Edit: I just figured out the trade off though, now that you mention building them. The power cell requirement is not all that big of a deal, but they ALSO require a AI core. And a metric ton of metal to build.
Overall, the build resource cost on them is pretty high compared to regular turrets. With how much material you get from salvaging enemies in the Guardian scenario, that didn't even register in my mind. But on other scenarios all those resources 'per turret' would be pretty expensive.
Though I built one at the time I made this thread, no enemies have yet to get within range for it to shoot anything. My normal Laser turrets and sniper-rifle-armed survivors have, so far, always killed all the robots before they get within range of the mobile turret that I built.
I just now have built some battle drones too, curious how they perform.
Also out of the 100 maybe 20-40 went towards my turrets at once.
EDIT - since only 20-40 came at them and tiny bugs I expected some kills out of it. Also they spawned INSIDE my defenses grrr lol So my fences were useless.
