1) Don't let her eat gas. It's like eating raw veg or meat for her. Go to her character and turn off her ability to drink gas or eat silicon. Only let her eat Energel or energy crystals. Most bots you fight will drop some Energel in the beginning before you know how to research it. (If you run low on energel, disassemble a fuel cell -- she can eat energy crystals.)
2) Deprioritize balloon travel. Burns up a lot of gas she needs. Do it if something juicy happens (self-destruct, SOS, etc.) but generally don't rely on balloons for scavenging needs.
3) Research silicon plants early (there are never enough to keep her going) and make a max sized field. Fertilize it.
4) Gas should readily show up in scavenges in year 1. But get someone's farming up and get manure animals penned in by end of year 1. Go 1 more animal than you might in a normal playthrough as Hope needs some gas. Manure to gas has worked well for me, as (at least in my playthrough) there are far fewer bug attacks and you don't have the same steady stream of insects --> fat --> gas like I've done in prior playthroughs.
5) A crafting station is effectively her cooking station. Someone needs to have a 2-ish priority to crafting -- like every day, the first thing they do after eating -- and making her Energel stuff (set to 'Until' 5 build or so and put it at the top of your queue).
5) Don't just let her sit around. A 0 skill for Hope means 'use me at that skill until it is not zero anymore'. In the beginning she can scavenge or do research, and as you do those she will give you periodic 'I am learning' sort of announcements where you can unlock more for her to do.
She turns into a hell of a survivor. It just takes time.

My goal with her (I'm about half way to Sentience, so no idea if this is possible) but I'd like to set her priorities to 3 across the board and just let her self-select what she wants to do.

Although, I find it quite weird that the robot requires almost more care than humans in the end. Even though they don't care about hot and cold, the way she consumes stuff makes her just as much complex to handle. Something looks a bit wrong with the core concept here in my opinion.
Anyway, are you sure unticking "gas eating" won't let her starve to death tho?
Happened to me too. Chances are you need 3x Processors to heal her.
I was stuck for some time because I didn't loot them on nearby wrecks.
I ended getting them all by looting enemy robots after my first fight.
You can heal her -- you need CPU cores. I unchecked that for her self-repair options because that is far rarer than repair parts. But it turns out for the hacking / DOS attack she just needs a (regular human) healer and a CPU core.

Don't let it get to that, but yes -- she will starve unless you start making energel or disassemble fuel cells to get energy crystals.
Growing energy crystals is almost never worth it:
1) You can't grow them until you get a soldering bench and discover the crystals themselves. That's a way's out from the opening.
2) They grow very slowly and their output as a crop is limited.
3) They murder the soil with each crop (turn it to sand) and there are only 1-2 plants that can rejuvenate that soil -- and you may not find them on your playthrough.
So disassembling energy weapons --> disassembling power cells is a far more productive way to get crystals. Lucky for you the consortium sends bots at you just about every week or so, and after the first 2-3 waves they are all carrying energy weapons.
So I would not grow EC in a Hope campaign.

Weird i made a surgical bed for her to be healed on and even on that it denies it and says forbidden medicine that is why i cant heal hope she has gone years without healing after being hacked .is it a bug perhaps or how do you unlock the medicine ok even weirder after i said that it worked but i think it might have been allowing her to eat repair parts
