How to Stop Collecting Feathers and Poop
My settlers will not stop roaming the entire ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ map chasing after feathers and cow ♥♥♥♥. Other than manually turning off every single option at every single workstation, task, and storage unit, is there any way to stop them from doing this?

Something in your game is wrong, because feathers and poop that are not produced by tamed animals defaults to not having 'use' toggled on. Which means your people will not go pick it up.

Unless you are selecting it and toggling the "use" on, there's something very wrong if your people are going all over the map to collect the wild poop and feathers. If you are selecting it and toggling "use" on....stop doing that and your problem will be solved.

Of course, if you're talking about the stuff produced by tamed animals. Then no, there's no other option beside disabling it in storage locations so they have no where to take it (or selecting it every single time more is produced to toggle 'use' off). But if you are talking about tamed animals, they shouldn't be "all over the map"....

Also if it is from tamed animals, I suggest making an animal pen, lead them to it, and lock their butts in it, then the people wont go all over the map chasing their poop down.

Do animals ever self-tame? Because I have not wasted my time with taming animals yet. They keep wandering into insect nests looking for feathers on the other side of the map!

No animals do not self tame.

Are you using any mods? Mods would be one possible explanation for why things are not working the way they are supposed to.

You can not self tame an animal, you have to direct a person to tame them, and they have to be certain level to be able to do so. I have to agree with Jaggid, sounds like you have a mod that may be causing it if you use them.

No mods. Entirely the base game, nothing tricky going on.

Then something is not working right. If you havent tamed any animals, they should not be gathering manure or feathers unless you selected those items on the map to be collected.

Is there any way to manually extract a bug report so I can send it in? Couldn't find any information about that on my own.

You wrote in your first post : "Other than manually turning off every single option at every single workstation, task, and storage unit"

Since you have to manually enable recipes in workstations, that means at some point you manually enabled the recipe to craft cloth from feathers, or fuel from manure. Maybe you also enabled the fertilize option for some of your fields. And then you selected feathers and manure in the wilderness, asking your survivors to pick them up.

So my guess is you selected a lot of feathers and manure, some of them being far away, and your survivors are still picking them up. Try to select a huge area, select feathers and manure, and see if the "use" option is enabled (green check). If yes, left click this "use" option to disable it (red check).

Not that I can find, I cant even find a bug report on their website or here in the forums. I dont see a link for a discord channel either.

Bug reporting is built right into the game, that's why you don't find any external resource for it.

While playing, click the Manage button and the option to report a bug is right there on the menu. As long as you have an active internet connection while playing the game, that will send the report to them.

Ahh ok, I wasnt in the game right now when someone asked, and I had never noticed the option in game, but then never needed to look for it either.

Okay, so, I filed a bug report, and I think I figured out what was going on.

Nothing was set to use feathers. I made sure all storage and fields disabled feathers and manure, as well. There were multiple Insect Nests on the field. I believe the bug was that, if a creature attacked by insects dropped feathers, survivors would try to collect it. I wasn't able to confirm this without directly observing it, but since the feathers were always near nests, that's my best shot. There were tons of other feather piles in the wilds of the map, none of them ever got collected, so I'm pretty sure that's what was happening.

Thanks for all the help and advice.
