"True Solo" achievement, which character?
Has anyone gotten this achievement legitimately, and if so do you have any advice as to which character, or least starting skills, would be most recommended?

I've been doing all my games with the 'random' game rule, so am not particularly familiar with the characters themselves, but random isn't an option when going after that achievement as far as I can figure out.

After the new update - can you create robots to get this achievement?

they shouldn't count versus the achievement since they are basically walking devices, but they probably count towards the enemy wave strengths

can you elaborate this a bit? I mean how the strength is calculated.

I startes the solo run too but so far I do not see major difference to full 4 crew at first waves,

there was a formula somewhere on the forum but it was from before the Guardians update, number of members have little influence on the wave str its about your defenses and the stockpiles of food you got, robots are probably considered as defense.

So I should try keep food supply low and not use autoamtic defense? At least for a while.. really curious..

Think Carter is the best for a pure solo, with his double leveling up in all areas.
As this topic I have to warn against Carter.

Yes he is great all-rounder, yes he leveled fast in msot skills.. yes i did quite well with him...

But he has Dementia and once severe he is useless and barely manage feed himiself and do jobs around the house:p

I am in year 4 and luckily I have all researchs including Antena done, I just miss electronics for build and power up everything.. with luck I may be able to deconstruct all debrish around and pull it off but otheriwse it would be real struggle now..
yes usually that is the strat keep all low, but even if u do that the wave str has a time component also, so it might force you to still add some stuff,
on the solo matter u dont need to have everything researched to beat the scenario just the bare minimum, i remember finishing my crash landing on salt and at the last survivor who lived a few weeks on his own so a bit into the solo vibe, i only had a few traps and one combat mech xD, but it would be hard to get a mech in a solo run

i did not saw major difference due food in following waves.. at el;ast betwen the levels I go around 200 to 1500 (depend how much raw I have stored)

Otherwise yeah.. i was lucky getting Antena quite early so I decied I willa ctually not build electricity for any other purpose (not even food I can still manage get what I need for single colonist..) As above my Dement Carter just need scavenge bit more, than I think I will do it with 2 power cells.. I think they should alst fro rescure pod..
i had 30k of food in some scenarios, u can defo feel it not sure how the other resources factor in
i did my solo on crashlanding also its doable, i know htere was a dude who did that on insane but not sure if he managed to leave xD

Just got 'True Solo' using Emelin (for cooking skills) on an easy level. I took my time and was in year 15.
Never got attacked by many animals. Not sure if that was because I used a bow and arrow as my weapon and only switched to something better when an attack was about to happen.
Jack seemed like an obvious choice, but why do obvious?

I went with Paulette, high manipulation and a good backstory reason to run off into the wilderness by herself. I'm doing trade, hard, but 50% waves(mod). She doesn't like combat but who could blame her? It's certainly keeping me busy.
I've finished with Paulette in Sobruis and Emelin in Saltu. Now working on Sora in Desertum.

The real challenge with Sora is not feeding her, it's keeping her dressed. You need farming 3 to plant clothblossom and crafting 4 to research synthetics. Maybe veggie leather is the way to go. At least she is less likely to die of hypothermia than the others. Maybe need a lucky seed with a lot of wild clothblossom or some lucky scavenging.
Well i'm a kind of solo runner and sora is one of the best to me coz she shoots fast and get protected against the weather. i won crash landing on very hard with her (starting with no gun), may be in 3 years. A tip for her: once she discovers plants, she can cut them instead of harvest and get the products without harvesting malus, this works with grain, buttermelon, bushfruits and the violet plant (dont remember the name) so far. i think it doesnt work with heptagonia.
The difficulty might have been revised since guardian's update tho, now traps are way less powerfull than before and do not protect you if u have no weapon at start.
I m trying insane chaos since almost 2 weeks and cannot finish it, i give up everytime after one and half year; too hard, my last try i was attacked by 3 junos at day 30 first year (but it was may be a bug, it was a save from an old game, loaded on day 18).

My best experience of solo (and of this game) has been my solo run with Krysta, who is my favorite character. It was in hard difficulty (starting with a gun), before the guardians update. Krysta cannot craft at all and the game with her consist to find clothes by anyway she cans and protect her from weather until u find them, so building and chimney first winter, climatisation as soon as possible, spamming scavenge and travel to find clothes. i remember i could build a mech on the second winter, which saved her from the monster attacks.
I did it in 5 years, but could have done in 3 i guess, in the end i wanted to finish the full reseach board. But now researching mecha needs a 5 on crafting, new update killed the krysta's solo run. WHY???

the merchant scenario is way easier than crashlanding: u can attack scorpion nests and sell carbon to get the milion very fast.

Just received it with Laara on Sobrius, crash landing, hard difficulty, seed PRIEST-ROPE. I picked her as she has 25% bonus speed to almost everything, with no drawbacks or weaknesses. It took her almost five years with no rush, mostly a smooth going. She got her first robots built in three years, the rest was trivial afterwards. I ended up quite liking the solo run, the game has a different feel to a full-team mode
