I don't know if that is true or not, as I never did find them.
For now your fuel source will be grain-oil-fuel or if you have the tech, bug meat-fuel,
I do have a berry plant on the map, but I think those are beef berries. - I know how they look though and already checked the entire map.
And isn't it just Rita? I do run with Daniel, Jack, Katina, Sora Talas and Vincente... Suddenly I start rueing taking Vincente over Rita this time... Not only does she get along well with Jack, she does pretty much everything Vincente does and more.
Minus the trade thing, but that's useless in the military scenario anyway.
I just realize I should have been more specific. I'm looking for the fruit berries. I did find beef berries while searching though.
I already checked everywhere though, no fruit bushes :/ - also no grain cob.
Maki has the same ability (although I always choose Rita).
I'm not saying her farming skill makes any difference, btw. I may just have been very lucky twice. :)
It's perfectly possible they aren't on the map. I used an Excel spreadsheet someone posted (which I can't find anymore!) where all the important things for each seed was listed, along with which breakthrough techs and such.
Several of the seeds were lacking one or more of the plants considered important, so readers could plan their games accordingly.
There are only 2 huge maps in the game (the green world and desert world), and the seeds decide where on those maps you start out, and you have access to a limited area around that position. So no guarantee that all the plants and resources will be in range of that starting area.
And it makes me feel better that maybe those berries just simply weren't anywhere on the map. That theory beats me just being too dense to locate them. :)
edit: Also, a spreadsheet like what you mention is referenced in this post. Your comment was the first I had heard of it, but I put my superior search parameter skills to the test to locate it just now. The spreadsheet link is still valid.
Incredible! I spent a long time searching for it myself a while back, so I assumed it had been taken down. And here you find it in seconds... Thank you!
Although I think the seeds were changed in the new release, making the breakthrough techs invalid, unless they've kept updating the spreadsheet.
