Is there any way to stop animal pregnancies?
I don't see any option to spay my female dog, but at this point I really, really need her to stop getting pregnant. I'm up to 6 dogs, which is already a lot of extra mouths to feed.

And before anyone says it, I do NOT want to just slaughter the extra dogs for meat and hides. That's just wrong on so many levels to me.

Not so far. Maybe at some point there will be a mod like in Rimworld to spay or neuter animals. To prevent uncontrollable reproduction I tame either only female or only male dogs, not both.

Too late now in this game...I didn't realize they would breed so quickly. She gets pregnant within 1 day of giving birth, every time. >.<

You will eventually have to get rid of most of the dogs. A few games ago, just after tame animals were introduced, I thought it would be cool to have a pack of dogs. It's Not I had over 30 dogs and, like you say, new puppies arriving every few days. My survivors spent nearly 100% of their time slaughtering bugs for dog food + making slop. I finally had to slaughter them all (except two males, which I kept for pets). Have never trained another dog in all the games I've played since then.

Still in the early testing phase, but physical separation seems to work.

I have some shriekers and kept getting males. I separated the females from the males with a fence. So far, no unwanted pregnancies.

It's been a year since this thread was created, but just to be clear, I meant other than separation.

You could just shoot the offspring in front of her eyes. That might get the idea across ?

Animals can get pregnant through fences. It has happened to me with a wild animal impregnating a domesticated one because it was too close to the outer fence. And then another time, I had wild animals attack and break through the outer wall. There was still in an inner wall but one of my domesticated animals was impregnated from the other side. If you are going to use this method, I suggest making the animals more than a fence apart.

Yep, after a couple of game years, one of my Broodmothers just became preggers. I'll try more geographically separated pens next.

Talking of pregnancies, I`d love to see human offspring a year or two after couples marry.
It`s the biggest thing the game is missing, for me.

I suggest not to capture both male and female, just one of them. Or kill male and then capture one when needed.
I have about one-hundred head of steer.

Only their heads?

Yes, eventually, Captain, because if you don't slaughter them daily, the herd will baby boom you to poverty.
