They also cook in the order of which the crafting station is listed. So whatever is on top gets cooked first and if all your people eat a meat stew they have to cook 7 replacements before they will move on to whatever is further down the list. You also have to take into consideration the travel time. They have to deliver the cooked meal to storage and get thew new resources and bring it back to the stove. Are your storage locations directly adjacent to the cooking spot ?
9 of each meal is quite excessive also. Completely unnecessary really. If you are including all types of meals including chefs there are about 20 total different cooked meal types so you are trying to store 180 meals for 7 people.
Either way whoever you have as your cook will pretty much only ever be doing cooking for the most part. They will have very little extra time to do anything else so just keep that in mind.
Some of the cooking process for the higher 'tier' meals involves just heating it, without any actual cooking taking place (like oven dishes). During this time the stove will be unavailable, and the chef will look for other tasks to do.
If there is another stove, they will prepare a new meal on that instead of going off to plant a tree or something
Ow is this why they sometimes leave "unfinished object"
So I've been wondering about this, I can't find any info on the speeds of the different stoves, I assumed electric would be faster like in rimworld but I don't see any info about it in the game. Is this 100% for sure? If it is I definitely want to switch
I'm wondering this as well. The electric stove doesn't actually seem faster
Could still be done via direct code, I imagine, but the default game without mods has no varying craft (or cook) speed by device. Hopefully they add it, along with an electric tailoring bench, in a future update.
Pie is a 2 step process, prepare dough then cook in oven, while in the oven your char is idle waiting for it to finish, if you have a second stove he/she will get ingredients for that and start a new reciepe.
So per cook you actually need 2 stoves.
You can solve this by limiting what you cook, 1 stove is enough if you just make grain portridge and veggie/meat stew (the 3 basic reciepes). You then only have to farm grain and mushrooms. easy peasy.
