Power switches?
Hello,
I don't remember seeing this specifically in the tutorial, but it is highly possible I missed it. I want items like the research table, smolder, etc to not use power unless they are being actively used. I thought the power switch would work the same way as like the low level alert and the motion sensor. That isn't the case though, far as I can tell. If I set the switch to 2 and the tables to 2, they always use electricity, if I set them to the inactive current, then they just stay offline. It's probably something really simple and I am just being dumb, anyone know how to fix this?

its a manual switch so requires a handle action, but do work fine like that, i use it on my turrets and another for benches.

It would be nice if the survivors / characters had it included in their animation / task to always turn on the electric workbenches manually when using them, and turn them off when leaving them, since they all have their own power switches.

Yeah I find that the turrets do work well with the motion sensor so I don't have to remember to flick a switch.
I guess I am just shocked there isn't anything to turn off the bench when it's not in use, or the smelter, anything like that. Maybe I just assumed there was since the motion sensor and active line work so well, that it just made sense to have something like that for workstations.

This.

I agree it would be a nice feature. I think the devs were heavily influenced by Rimworld, which also doesn't have that feature (unless you use a mod that adds it).

the motion sensor do come with a drawback when hungry pests are around, can and will unintentionally fire on hungry pests... that said you can always have a powerswitch you can turn on and off when they spawn.

Hungry pests are food for you. (Or fuel.)
