Its a shame this game doesn't have such a feature, because I keep trying to hunt for hours to find a seed with level enough ground to build a large base on and I can never find one. I wish you could choose your starting area to some extent - especially in the Trading scenario where you've gone to the planet willingly. It makes no sense that you would deliberately set down in an area unsuitable for construction.
Yes it would. It would save a lot of time and unnecessary irritation. Or even just let us choose our landing site if we want and avoid the whole roulette thing to begin with.
I think the whole 'seed hunting' issue with this game has finally caused me to lose my interest in it now. Although I suppose it was always going to be finite considering there isn't much you can do differently each time you play.
I would be happy if i was able to build houses against cliff/hill sides though, up from ground level. Perhaps with support pillars and nice winding stairs.
Thanks for the tip! The more, the merrier
Flat, for me, means that if I wanted to cover an 80x80 grid area with a solid block of foundations I wouldn't have to go above 6 for the height (preferrably not above 3, but thats asking a lot).

If you want a nice flat seed without editing then I found POWER-OVERWHELMING1 is really good.
You could at least give it a try.
I may try your mod on a new game - by the way, thanks for the time spent developing it - but I won't risk any problems with my current game.
P.S. : and usually, I prefer use mods when there is no game update to come. If ever the mod becomes not compatible with the game and the modder gives it up, then your saved game is just to be trashed.
