Which map is your favorite?
Now that Saltu has been out for a while and we have all had a chance to play on it a few times, I'm curious which map of the 3 available different people prefer.

My personal favorite is Desertum. For no reason other than the fact that I like the aesthetics of it. I also like the fact that wood becomes a much scarcer resource there, which adds an additional bit of resource-strategy to playing on the map, but mainly because of the aesthetics.

What's your personal favorite? And why?

Desertum as well.
More open terrain, lots of stone my favorite build resource. Until they give us flat wooden roofs too. And i want to build a hilltop base as well some day like this but on the desertum map.

My least favorite is Desertum. I don't mind the scarce resources there, but the weather extremes on as daily basis is fairly annoying. I would rather be able to just stockpile the proper clothing for the seasonal changes.

I guess my favorite would be the green planet, having played t least 5-10 games on each planet.

I like Saltu the best. It has everything of Sobrius, but then some. The only drawback being slightly less trees and trees grow slower. But a huge benefit is it never gets cold. And crops never die from being too cold.

I like Saltu OK, but miss the carbon nano-tubes; I just got used to waiting until I had researched carbon rooms before I started building my mansion. I liked to use total carbon -- floor, walls, roof -- because of the insulation. Lately I've been playing on Saltu and have learned to like concrete houses, for the same reason (but slightly less insulation), but are much easier to build due to the 2:1 ratio of making concrete from rocks.

Yah, the lack of anything worthwhile from nests is kind of a bummer on Saltu. I can grow Silicon, I'm not going to mine and lug it back from a distant nest ffs. Just mho, but they didn't really think that one through.

Well, you can mine it easily enough and get tons of silicon for your trouble, so that you can delete your silicon farms. But, as you say, it's rather better to mine carbon from the insect nests.

Sure, I "can" but I don't.

It's not worth the time running back and forth as far as I'm concerned. It's not like my survivors who do farming have too much to do, and it doesn't take a very large siliconleaf field to stay on top of silicon needs in the first place.

Though I like the desert map cause I can make a "mountain village" type of thing, the game *really doesn't want you to*.

You can't put tunnels on floors, you can't put wall-related items on the walls of floors (because the game tells you that's a floor), placing stairs is a pain, as the game is just trying to do what it wants you to do, there's a limit on the highest building so you can't build buildings ontop of buildings...... I could go on.

The game really wants you to play in a specific way. I currently have a village on Desertium btw. I think it's the most difficult, but it was very interesting.

I think jungle is the easiest.
