Saltu
Have not played with this region long (maybe 2 hours rl), but it is swiftly becoming my favourite region. The colouration of the foliage and the animals is amazing, the animals are even cute. Plants that do more than the one thing. The new research items.

Everything is just fantastic.:steamhappy:

I too love this region out of the 3 although that blight is starting to get on my nerves simply cause theres no command to "cull blight" that i've noticed so you gotta target every blight item and do it manually

First thing I've noticed on Saltu is that my survivors can wade waist deep in rocks.

Just a quick tip, if you click the notification/warning for the blight on the right (i.e. where it gives the number of blighted plants), this automatically selects all the blighted plants. So you can just click the cut button in the info panel at that point.

You can then select a survivor, and right click those plants to prioritise cutting them if needed.

Good tip

Just to add to the main thread. I too like the new region. It certainly makes you prioritise getting to antibiotics!

I ended up doing a restart after loosing survivors to disease, and not finding any grain (for the antibiotics) until it was way too late to save them. Restarted the map and bee-lined straight to the grain. So hopefully no losses to fever this time round :-) (The grain wasn't all that far away from the start location, it was just a tiny amount, and I had to do the drag mouse select everything trick till I found the right plants).

One thing to note. there are a lot more animals around in the new biome (a huge amount more!), so many that when I get animal attacks turning up, many of them get killed by the other animals before they even start to attack me!

Often none of the initial attacking animals survive long enough to get to my base! These are just early attacks, so no doubt as the game goes on in time, and the attackers get stronger, more of them will survive requiring me to actually deal with them.

Not really a complain, just an observation. Enjoying the new biome so far.

There is another plant in the new Biome that yields antibiotics. Cureplant or something.

Yes, I'd heard that, but I've tried to avoid too many dev reveal type stuff, as I kinda wanted to jump in blind and see what happened, hence some people died :-)

I've not found that specific new plant yet, although I've found quite a few others so far, and I'm enjoying the challenge of trying to find these new plants (and animals), then work out what they can be used for.

I also noticed I started with a couple of plants I could grow immediately on game start, including the one that grows synthetic cloth, so an easy path to synthetic armour :-D

Agreed, they've done a fantastic job with Saltu, feels far more interesting and diverse than previous maps. Really enjoying it

My apologies.

it's ok, apology not needed :-) I already knew about the new plant. I typically skim read the announcement posts, to see what new features are coming and when etc. But I then avoid any videos/dev live streams/lets plays etc. So I knew about the plant, but have no idea (yet) what it looks like.

Extreme zenofloura blight is a nightmare. Even with Immediately cutting/removing the infected plants it reaccures and expands. only thing , and I am testing, crop rotation as a possible option. It appears there are no current researches/cures available in-game at this stage. Devs we need optiions on how to deal with this!

For me, the biggest problem with crops was not blight but extreme heat waves. Total temperature level get raised above 50, which start killing plants all over the map. Also hungry pests now not just eat harvest - they destroy actual plants as well, even wild ones. Thankfully wild flora can regrow now!
