Orbital radio
Couple questions -

1) There is a "Contact" button on the orbital radio station. I also understand that you can select a survivor and right-click on the radio for them to make contact. Do these do the same thing? Does the right-click method just make them do it faster or is there different outcomes?

2) When contact is made, I got a list of equipment they can send down. Is it just RNG whether they offer a survival pod?

If you use the contact button on the radio, one of your survivors will go to the radio automatically, prioritized by the "handling" activity in the activity planner.

It does the same thing as if you had selected the survivors and then right clicked the radio, just another way to go about doing it. I personally find it faster to use the contact button, because when a ship arrives clicking the notification takes you to the radio, so it saves me some clicks. But either option works.

As for the rescue pods, yes it is RNG, and there is also a timer involved. (no pod option for x amount of time since the previous pod).
(Edited to correct "rescue pod"....I originally accidentally typed "cargo" pod).

Orbital radio is in the crash landing scenario. Selecting a survivor to make contact when a ship is in orbit is faster i guess.

But in the crash landing scenario contact is made to get people off the planet, not to get supplies. oh wait, yeah you can get supplies, but you want to leave as that is the objective isn't it ?

In the Trade Outpost scenario you contact a passing trade ship and offer trade for goods/tech etc.

This one is crash landing, pre trade scenario patch :-)

the cooldown between two should be around 7day (at least in medium, not sure if it's the same in other mode) based on the timeline shown after you win most of my crew left 7 day after the previous one.

They never use it on their own. I have gone through three (so far) ship contacts, and the survivors just ignore it. I have nine survivors and put "Handle" as a 1 for all of them. Didn't matter. They just ignore it.

Mine also seem to ignore it when I click the "Contact" option on the radio when a ship is detected. But I think it's a bug, because if I click Contact, then Cancel it, and then"Contact" again, one of the "handling" survivors goes right to the radio.

I don't think it's a bug. I kinda think that the developers want your little heart to flutter when you see your orbital antenna rays lining up & you get a notification that a spaceship has been contacted. What better do you have to do than to find one of your survivors and order him to operate the orbital radio? You don't have to react instantaneously after all; there are a few hours of time available to have one of your survivors hobble over to the radio set & contact the space ship.

Just sayin'.

I think it's a bug. The "contact" button works fine for me to get it handled automatically.

Just click on someone, right click on the radio, and contact ship. It's not that hard. You people that are SO against the least bit of "micro managing" are ridiculous.
I was just thinking I never had an issue, then I remembered that I press the contact ship banner on right takes you straight to orbital desk and click contact ship. Then I wait until the bar is half way down if nobody has done it I would tell the nearest one to contact.

I'll flag it with the team just to be safe!
