Moving Materials Between Area Flags?
Am I missing some simple mechanic here? My tiny outpost has a food fabricator, and it broke down. I need an electronics to repair it, but can't send the materials because of area assignments. When I right click with someone from the main base, it asks me to re-assign. However, even after re-assigning them to the outpost, it doesn't let me select the repair option on the fabricator. And, yes, it's the right person to make the repairs.

This led me to realizing I couldn't find any simple way to just move some materials. It's either all or nothing. I don't need 50 electronics at the outpost.

someone set to global area will do that if ordered to, make sure you tell him to do it else he will most likely pick stuff to do closer to home
there are no limits like they have in Surving Mars only limits you can set is by simply making dedicated shelves or boxes using the restrictions tab in each storage, each section of the shelves can be set to a different thing or a mix of things so u got 300 weight limit right there.

I d suggest playing with Mnementh's cargo mech mod it works well for areas. and I don't think it breaks any achievements.

I think you need to remove someone from an area flag so he is assigned to the global flag and can perform tasks not limited to a certain area ?

no u can change to global from the change area button in the survivor tab but a good practice is to draft and undraft back after you change area so he can forget what he was doing in the previous area else he might just turn back and finish up if he still has actions qued up

but don't leave people in the global for too long if you got many areas, it is not feasible

I just had that come up in my current playthrough around an hour ago. My solution was to have someone "move" the thing that needed repairs back to the main outpost, assign it to the area for the home base, repair it there, then move it back and reassign it.

Took one of my survivors pretty much the entire day to accomplish the task. In my case it wasn't a fabricator though. I would not ever use those at a remote location unless that location was self-sufficient for producing electronics. They break down very frequently.

I don't want to bother Mnementh more than I have already, but I got a hunch that also frequent power shortages might increase the malfunction rate.

Yeah, I was using global off and on - but it's just unnecessary micromanagement. And it was a pretty long ways off, so it was a full-day chore. That aside, not even being able to split stacks of materials to prep for setting up an outpost is silly.

I agree. In Rimworld I used a mod that let me set specific limits for each individual storage location for each item. I really wish we had that feature in Stranded.
