I do feel your pain. Ken has let me down as well in the weapons department in my current play-through. And I am cursed when I send Quin on expeditions. So I have Krista madly working her way through the research tree to get railguns. With any of the luck that I have not had so far, my one laser pistol will last that long. But hummingflies ... yeah.
A little hint is your crew are perfectly fine living without a house, having a living space based on shelters for the first few years, if you get the blue armor on all and strawhats (not a must)
Desertum dress "code"
Blue armour cover and carbon later if you have that breakthrough
T-shirt
Optional strawhats but they are safe in any conditions in terms of weather without.
Sobrius dress "code"
Blue armour cover and carbon later if you have that breakthrough
Sweater
Optional strawhats, but they are safe in any conditions in terms of weather without.
This is interesting. How do you dismantle the guns? You get back all the resources?
Thanks for the tip!
Just like recycling clothing. Right-click on the item.
I had no idea you could recycle clothing either, so double-thanks!
Damn, and I've ben wondering how to get them to not use the clothes that are almost worn out...
[Edit] OK, I managed to research Laser Pistols & CPU Crafting, and managed to craft exactly 1 laser pistol before the bugs attacked again. That was enough, what with Jack now being armed. I found another laser pistol on one of the hopeful expeditions -- no survivors, but 1 pistol + a set of armor.
Also Hunting ground for unlimited meat/hides, Supercomputer for cpu, and a couple of others for scraps/food/meds/clothes.
I run 2 balloons to spam some of these. If you're saying "but that's a lot of fuel", manure is unlimited around your base. Just select all the manure in the area to be used and craft manure fuel, you can start doing this on day 3.
Since then I have played games where I got zero energy weapons until I crafted my own.
The key is to accept the randomness and adapt your playstyle to each game. If the game doesn't give you weapons then rush research for weapons/turrets.
This is a very good point: there will always be a level of randomness to each playthrough of Stranded: Alien Dawn, so you should adapt on the fly and roll with the punches.
Keep in mind that it's also OK to restart with a new group of survivors, or just restart the map itself if you want to do things over in a different way.
Lol, I get my survivors rooms of their own for my sanity, not theirs. Can't handle any more meltdowns or being on the verge of meltdowns. I have other things I want to concentrate on.
But your observations and shortcuts are spot-on as usual tommy_b_schmidt -- I cut and pasted your earlier comments about getting the flamethrower by day five so I can refer to them often. Thank you for the lessons in efficiency.
Oh, and yeah, I was actually startled on my current Desertum seed, after playing a lot of Sobrius seeds, when Ken came up with a railgun sniper in his very first scavenge. Not only was it the first scavenge, but I realized I hadn't been getting weapons in those Sobrius seeds.
