Do the bugs swim?

Like the title says, do the invading bugs swim or can you use a lake for a natural barrier to save resources?

Don't think so.
Have my base backed up against ocean tiles for approx 1/3 of the perimeter in current play-thru (yr 5).
Have had hungry pests spawn Inside base from sea side a couple times but none of the major waves.

No, I have had my base backed up on ponds and they can't get in that way. To be sure you always run a bit of fence in as far as it will go, it's shows up the shallow spot were they might be able to paddle across.
