How do you handle the Depressed people? Please add Prozac ASAP

Look at this, He has more happy stats than negative so why is he about to melt down AGAIN. The game feels rigged to make you lose. There is no reason he should be melting down.

For those who are having issues with meltdowns and believe the mechanic is broken PLEASE read this post until you understand it. Once you understand the mechanic, it is simple to avoid having your survivors meltdown in all but the most stressful situations, (after a night fighting bugs without sleep, empty stomachs, and writhing in pain).

Ok I read your post. Did you forget a link or something? You saying it isnt broken doesnt make it not broken.
The post I was referring to was the one I quoted.
Much like I am doing right now with your post.

I'm sorry to say this but you are a terrible manager of your manor.
Your ppl have no private rooms, they must have at least 2 beds per enclosed room with door to make them feel happy. Also, you let them eat raw food which went bad, I can see the green halo on the buttermelons on your shelves and the -6 on your chars for raw food poisoning. They are poisoned. Probably they are intoxicated with manure as well... of course they are constantly unhappy. They need at least 6 hours of sleep like any human being, and at least hr relaxation at noon.
Is not the AI, is you and how you manage the game :steammocking:

I knock them out. Or they usually knock out everyone I send to knock them out.. either works. I end up screaming at the monitor.

hehehe I feel your rage. Funny thing is, Jack is my best fighter, he went to knock out Quinn, who is the weakest, and quinn knocked out Jack. I scared my cat. I screamed at my monitor so loud that it woke my cat and she jumped off the desk hahaha

Yeh I think they changed how it works, I've had a few similar fights. I can understand if the guy is in armour or has high combat.. but usually the guy I send is way stronger and they loose... it's..

You should also consider giving people their own 4x5 room as well as building things under leisure especially shroom torches. Both give 18+ happiness and stack with a comfortable bed and creature comforts (Which is when the room has flooring in it.) Lovers sleeping next to each other in their own room gives them happiness too.

Beverages as well give happiness beer, wine, coffee (Which also gives them a buff increasing their move speed etc), tea and pipes (The last two also giving pain relief.) Musical instruments and armchairs also give happiness

You can also now have animals that your people can pet which gives them a happiness buff and build statues that give happiness when they are relaxing.

Some survivors can buff happiness too while others decrease it. Emelin for example can cook a meal that gives those who eat her meals 6 happiness which stacks with food variety and the meal type that you've prepared. Or Kana can write stories which gives 18 happiness and gives people an inspiration buff. Also assigning survivors to assignments they enjoy gives them happiness.

You just need to give them more things to do (especially ones that they enjoy.)

Stumbled on something today. If you have Emelin as your cook she gives your people massive boosts with her food, it can just be porridge but they think it the best thing they have ever eaten.

You can watch the color in grey of the picture of your character. When its low just look if he need sleep, relaxing, food and manually order then to do this. I play on hard and never had any breakdown.

Schedule is underated! you have to set less work time in mid game when they loose the initial bonus.

Also, you can send your survivor hating another on a night shift, sleeping during the day and not relaxing/eating same moment so they wont meet in those room.

I have everyone on an 8 hour work day, 10 hours sleep, 2 hours relax in morning and 3 at night and I still get some near meltdowns. Not many now, but usually after they argue alot. Otherwise generally all around 90% happiness. nearly 5 yrs in tho.

Do you provide them with enough comfy chairs, wine, ale, smokepipes, a few varieties of food, statues, comfy beds, instruments, punching bags, etc. I haven't even bothered building any major structure on my base and have just the stick shelters (the ones with the open wall).

I work them 15hrs a day, 2hrs to relax, and 7 hrs of anything. My settlers are half naked (I change their clothes if they get too hot or cold).I am unlucky to get a single meltdown a year and I haven't had that early settler buff for a long time.

I am playing on normal level, are you guys playing on hard level or something?

Honestly your best going with the schedule I got from these forums. 3 sleep, 1 relax right after sleep and all else as anything. It really works. The work gets done as usual with far less melt downs.

Yeh they have everything now, all the foods including chef, all drinks available every statue in the game.. the biggest happiness failure is the rng arguments they have.. if someone rng is pleased by someone else.. they never melt down.. the opposite is sadly true tho.

I don't find anything works at all, it does reduce meltdowns.. to a degree because they can literally decide to go for a walk etc whenever, but it also means they spend an awful lot of time esp in early game doing not much work.. and you need those man hours to get done.

So I go with a rigid planner. But, I also tend to give them more relax time, usually 5 hours a day minimum.

Well I had to try it and it did seem to reduce the melt downs somehow but you do find your people stood around doing nothing, I have noticed that lately.

Since the patch you can get a nice buff by having a single dog in the camp, all your survivors will bond with it and pet it every now and again.
alation13 Jan 28, 2023 @ 4:56am
This is how much trouble I have with meltdowns.
