I just cannot watch this BS anymore...
1. Running 100m to the ship debris for 3 hours, just reached it, running back 3h for sleeping, woke up, running 3h to the ship debris again, just reached it, running back 3h for eating.
2. Handling priority 1 for all chars, but they keep running for materials left near ship debris 3h there and 3h back. Day finished.
I'll try to play this game again in a couple a year or so. Cheers, guys.

No it's not a pathing issue.. per se.. but it is a pathing issue.. ;)
It is a new content issue really.. it's an issue with how the game allows multiple survivors to all pet the same animal at the same time, how it tries to move them all at the same time, how it defaults to animal petting in relaxing instead of sending them to play darts or sit in a seat... as a result they just stand idle.. and never relax.

The only current workaround to this "BUG" is to disable petting. Feel free to continue arguing over this...

...for another 5 pages.

My bad, did I derail the "I just cannot watch this BS anymore..." thread? By all means, lets get back to complaining about not being able to figure out how to play the game.

No, Rolf. It's a bug with petting animals, not a base design issue.

Go look at the pictures (provided by others and by me). The ONLY issue (in my base, anyway) is when a survivor tries to pet a dog/animal. ANY other task and they can go to that location, through the same pathing, and get that job done. This bug has to do with the fact that when a survivor goes to pet a dog (or other animal), he/she doesn't go to it, but goes about 10 yards away and tries to call out to the dog/animal. Sometimes they get bugged (either the animal can't go through the closed gate) or the dog can't "hear" the summons through closed doors.
easy solutions for all those "issues"

1. don't keep your animals inside
2. don't keep your animals between you and a gate
3. turn off ranching

Rolf, I'm trying to be polite, so don't take this the wrong way, but do you even have any animals tamed?

Oh you're so polite, and non-presumptious!

Yeah, some attack lizards and some cattle camel. No dogs have showed up in my most recent playthrough, (after the update) which is in desertium. I have not yet bothered to tame a shrieker, though they would be better than the stupid hammerhead tail lizards that die of old age after 3 years.

So, anyway, I'm trying to be polite, Legadian, but do you even know how to listen to advice? The alternative is that you keep banging your head against the wall, which is fine. I just feel bad for the wall,

I'm not banging my head against the wall, I was simply talking about a bug in the game.

The reason I asked is you gave three kinda nonsensical pieces of advice.:

1. don't keep your animals inside - You said you don't have dogs. Well, I do have dogs and their ONLY function at the moment is to be emotional support. They can't fight worth a damn, they don't produce anything, and they open doors on their own (so they will come inside regardless of your wishes - or go outside if you have their bed inside, for that matter). They're for petting and bonding, period. So keeping them inside makes perfect sense.

2. don't keep your animals between you and a gate - This is even more confusing. How do you not have your "cattle" animals behind a gate? They wander off if you don't. Even if they don't wander off, they'll get attacked by waves of mobs, if you don't pen them up and defend them.

3. turn off ranching - This makes 0 sense. Turning off ranching won't stop them from being petted. Turning off petting on each animal will, but not ranching. If you turn off ranching, you stop taming, feeding, leading, and training entirely (unless you manually do it).

I'm not being presumptions (that's why I asked). I have about 40 animals at this point for 7 survivors (going for the achievement and testing if birthed creatures count). I could "fix" the issue by turning off petting, but that doesn't "solve" anything. Getting to the bottom of the bug does.

Just cause it is a feature you don't use, doesn't mean it shouldn't be properly implemented.

The animals going inside unheeded is probably a bug.

Right, so I don't have dogs. This is true. Sounds like they are a major hassle.

But I learned early on that if you have a super cramped environment around something like a wardrobe, and tell everyone to go change clothes, there will be roadblocks, pathing will break, nobody will get their clothes changed, and etc.

In the case of MY animals, people are always trying to go ******* visit them, which is just ridiculous. they want to get bonded to animals that only produce manure, meat, and skin. Which I suppose happens in real life, I mean I grew up in WI, right? Long enough to know not to get behind the electric fence with the Bull it was keeping in.

I suggest that if you want to have a dog bed inside, you might put it in like an 9x9 room (I'm exaggerating) right in the center. So EVERYONE can get in there and pet the thing. Probably better install like 4 doors, too.

There is an easy solution to this.. get a hammer.. break your fingers..

That's why I fast track research to unlock delivery drones as fast as possible, they run 24/7 with no n Ed for food or naps

It's actually interesting, when there is no legal food for them to eat, they will eat whatever is available.. so for example, they will eat insect meat... or mushrooms or pumpkins.. which you might ban them from eating. Then they'll be sick for eating it, which makes them unhappy, so they melt down again.

They just need a good slap around their greedy little chops. :D
They don't seem to get that I am trying to keep them alive here.
It's like working with today's youth, the toons in this game wouldn't last 5 minutes if it was a real situation, lol .... Has a melt down cause they have no fun time or entertainment when establishing a new trade colony on a hostile planet, or better yet, cries due to no fun .... AT A CRASH SITE!!!!! lol
