How to survive flying enemy raid ? (Spoiler)
Well, ive received a raid of some flying insects (118) that proven completly unbeatable.

Even when reloading the safe and placing around 15 turrets, people equipped with snipers and laser pistols V2, everyone just dies in a matter of 10 seconds.

Its like.... waterfalls of acid instant killing everything.

There is no way this is beatable. 15 Laser turrets (which need a private nuclear power plant, year 2, high end equiment and a roof to stand under) I just die everytime.

Tried reloading about 17 times now. Cannot beat it.
As soon as someone peaks out 1 Nms he gets evaporated.

How do I beat this? For my next run?

PS, YES, they have been wearing armour.

But it barely kept them alive a few seconds longer.

Its like sitting on a crossbike with a pistol while trying to fight off about 100 Artillerys laying fire upon you.

create a triangle with two defensive structures partially wall up, leaving an opening towards your second defensive structure and turrets, so that when the flyers go for your no wall area you have turrets and house 2 firing at them... Arm with laser pistols and 1 pulse riffle in each house, and get body armor. Also consider running a power network that ensures if one pole is down, then there is a backup supply of power. Just keep it withing 15 squares max, make sure all are within fire range. And build roofs/walls in materials you can replace by producton.

never tried it, but a consideration could be to arm up with pulse riffles only to stun them and let the turrets do the killing.

You could also draft your survivors before they attack, and position them so that the sniper has a few hummingflies in range, the sniper will shoot and around 10-30 humminflies will attack you, let your survivors kill them. Repeat the process as necessary. That way you can fight them in smaller groups instead of all of them at once.

well you kinda need to kill them fast, no stucture will survive a high number of fliers for very long. Sniper is to slow, considering that 1 laser gun will kill them just the same just in a higher rate.

Huh flying enemy raids are the easyest wave you can get if you have turrets.
Put all your Guys in the middle of your living house the turrets will do it alone and no one gets hurt

With over 118 of them they vaporize the turrets rather then the turrets them.
Not to mention raids get very frequent later on, meaning I face that ♥♥♥♥ about all few days.

I would do nothing else anymore then try to get silicon and Iron.

I cant really imagine that setup in my head.
But I kinda get the point.

It just feels that even 10 turrets arent enough. I cant produce so much power.

Hmm next time I try a , eh, maiby like 20 Diesel generator setup I activate when such a raid starts and focus on spamming turrets huh. Seems survivors stand no chance against those things even when fully armored and armed.

Feels that they really have to stay inside until its over.
Never had that situation.

I guess its like the first 50 centipide raid in Rimworld.
You never guessed it would happen and bäm, colony gone.

You die and learn I guess.
Im not mad its over, its what happens in colony managment games played on Hard difficulty.
Just have to figure out how to beat it.
Ps they did wear armour in later tests. Full synthetics and they still got turned to goo faster then being driven over by a tank.

But maiby your right. Probaly got more hours booked into this game.

What you recommend for turrets? Like 10 laser turrets? 20?
How to power them. Have a garage spammed with Diesel generators for that matter?

After all we cant forget we dealing with a max of 10 survivors here, while its really hard to even get 6-7 in 2 years.
I still need to cook, tailor and do everything else.
Cant focus solo on producing electronics only and metal.

1 guy, ken, is gone 24/7 into explorations to get mroe scrap metal.
Since he gets double for free, its easier then mining.

The cook is booked 24/7 just cooking in this game as it takes way to long.
The farmer is booked 24/7 for farming silicon and grain.
1 guy is booked 16/7 just for hauling everything.
Leaves about 2-3 guys (if you got so much) to tailor armour, research everything, produce electronics, build a giant solar farm, smelt metal, build everything else, repair everything.

Wish you could get more guys at 12 wouldnt be the absolut maximum.

Tried that, but even 30 of them just vaporize a survivor in full armour.

Altough its a good tactic since 30 are easier to handle for turrets then 118. Guy just has to leg it fast enough under a 4x4 shelter.

i find the lasers to be uesless on light targets, try machine guns.

Laser do have longer range than machine gun though . And the flying bug have few HP .

The thing with lasers is that they the exact opposite.

They useless against high HP but devastation against low HP.

Lasers work 100% without pause, they have a constant streamline attack until the target is dead, then they switch.
During that they deal low HP damage.
Meaning since they 100% permanently hit without a break dealing full damage, they perfect against high numbers of low HP enemies.

Machine guns dont shoot very fast and dont have a constant target aquiration.

Yup.
While in our minds machine guns might prove better since we dont have laser guns, a gun that pin pints on the enemy until death dealing constant damage is almost always a better choice against a flying agile enemy.

Anyone tested rocket launchers?

Since the flying bugs sometimes add up to like 30 per tile, if the rocket launcher would hit a single one of them it would kill 30 at once.
