I have yet to build a switch for electricity. Mine works great without it.
Ah, I've misunderstood that then. I've waited until I've found a microchip before I start using electricty, and thought it was related to the power switch! Must have mixed up something from the tutorial.
I haven't found a chip yet or started using electricity in my current game, so good to know I can save a chip by not building a switch.
Are all the power poles connected? I mean do you see power lines between them? When you select any of the electric structures, is there some message saying why there is no power?
Also, the lightning rods does not serve as power poles. I remember I had that impression after the tutorial, and found out when I had power problems like you the first time I played that they weren't. But if they're connected to the grid they will recharge the battery when lighting strikes, but they don't serve as 'connections'.
Anyway, I set up my power yesterday without building the switch for the first time, and there ware no problems. I waited until I had researched batteries to set it up, to avoid the fuel-guzzling generator. Using only solar panels.
Anyway, good luck on your new game.
yes the pole's have there 2 lines with connect them.
