Worst-case scenario would be to dismantle metal/carbon platforms for scrap/materials, and rebuild using wood or soil.
Are you farming all the space ship hull wrecks you are finding? There are an abundance of scrap metal that has fallen from orbit that came from your capital ship. Periodically more pieces can also fall down.
You can also find ore deposits. You have to be careful not to mistake them from "stone", ore is anywhere from a mild grayish to a medium shade of gray. All you need to do is look carefully because you can also find ore near or mixed with stone. When in doubt, pause the game and click on the boulders you find strewn about. In time, you'll be able to somewhat distinguish ore from stone but admittedly it can be a pain to see sometimes.
Be advised that if you do find ore, you'll need to smelt it down in order to make it into useful alloys. Some advanced structures or equipment or things will depend on alloys, which is different from scrap. But you probably already knew it.
Good night, and good luck. Sleep tight and don't let the Skarabei bite. :P
Best team in my eyes will always have laara and ken in the group, they are simply in their own league.
y1 usually do all the scavenge and salvage to build up his muscle for later pick up explorations. Ken is not as fast as quinn but he brings back so much more that i dont really consider quinn that good (think he is highly overrated by players in generel.)
Honestly, I have never had a scrap issue. I just ensure whenever new debris falls that one of the minions goes and bangs on it with their hammers. I end up having to store the scrap outside in x2 wide shelter due to the sheer amount so it does not take up my internal building supply dump. Also, combined with Ken (per Taloni above) it builds up very quick.
The salvage debris continually renews as well. My recommendation is to completely salvage away the debris so the new spawning/falling debris ends up close to your base again. This way you need not have the minions travel far.
Best of luck! Messing up is the best way to learn in Stranded: Alien Dawn, and you're bound to have a few restarted games now and again. The folks here are pretty knowledgeable about the game if you have any other questions!
