I already did that, was the first thing I confirmed, since I only use 240hz in pvp games, and limit it to 60 for everything else.
But oddly I closed the game to make this post and then loaded up a save and it hasnt done it yet. So maybe an odd ball one time bug I dont know but so far seems to not be replicating itself.
are your case fans on Maximum speed ?
reduce game shadows to minimum.
You are not understanding the issue. The issue isnt overheating. Its the sudden spiking of gpu temps but not gpu usage. It doesnt happen in games graphically more demanding or other early access titles. It is really random.
Thanks for chiming in.
I noticed this happens more on new maps, but if I save then close game and load I cant reproduce it yet. Let me know if same for you.
Also when your GPU temp spikes, do you notice little to no gpu usage change? It really is a oddity. Nice gpu btw!
That is the point I was making. Usage didnt increase, just a sudden spike in the gpu, but I havent been able to reproduce it, so I cant really do much until it happens again. It was an odd bug.
But for the gpu to hit 76c at 60hz at 1080 p is definitively not normal, but if I can reproduce it Ill update. So far its running 45 to 55c on max settings at 60hz. Only when I uncap my fps does it increase. And that is normal.
Again, you are missing the issue.
1080p at 60hz shouldnt be running as hot as 1080p 240hz or 3440x1440 144hz.
It was a bug, and not been able to reproduce it. I know what fans kicking in means. I have been building pcs for over 20 years. Its the fact that the game was causing the GPU temps to increase without using more gpu power. GPU sitting at a set percentage usage wise and suddenly the temp would jump by 20c for no reason, with no power draw increase on the gpu.
Nothing else was sucking in power, I have multiple monitors and I am able to watch my specs as they increase and decrease as I am always making sure I have the best possible air flow. But it was a bug, until I can reproduce it, not much I can do.
yeah that is odd. Mine runs about 55-65c on games at 1440 and 60hz. Maybe set the fan profile and overlay to update more often? I set mine to 500ms. Maybe that will help. But like you said, you havent been able to get it to do it again. With a longer update interval you could see big spikes.
I havent changed anything on my pc and it now sits between 45c and 55c. The issue was on the first hour of gameplay. No issue since, If it happens again Ill be sure to capture the issue as it happens.
awesome thanks. The game is really fun, nice take on a modern looking rimworld
