I do not even think its bad that there are negative effects. I just don't think there is enough positives to outweigh the negatives.
I also understand there's gonna be people ****ing each other's brains out for EXACTLY that reason. So, yeah, it should create both loves and hates, but often it's only hate.
In a Situation like this, only the fools are hating.
Smart people will try to work together with the others.
Let's use my exemples..
Kelreena, you are in this situation, originally you don't belong to that group of people, your pod landed... crashed somewhere else, you are alone on an hostile planet but mister-A saw the crash and he is bringing you back to his base with his air balloon, some days later, you are attacked by a beast just outside the camp, Miss-A is killing the beast but you are bleeding a lot, she is bringing you back to your bed, and Miss-B is healing all your wounds and she is feeding you with the delicious meals cooked by mister-B
After that if you are human, you are thankful for the rest of your life, and you are trying your best to help them.
The ungrateful AI, will rahter hate them over time.
When Emelin isn't cooking, she is livestreaming herself being hypernet famous and a drama queen while is she performing other tasks. She does this because she hates doing any other job. She is also painfully oblivious to the harsh realities of their situation.
If the devs fix whatever is causing the dichotomy between Emelin's lore and her in-game behavior, or how companions react to her, I would probably change my views and use her more often.
So I agree, something is a bit messed up here.
But I got Jack by now as additional survivor from an expedition, and I can way better afford to keep people happy now. So my starting team still very much hates each other, but they start to actually like your favorite combat instructor.
Not sure if that's really how it works, but it would be a way to explain it.
But they hate everyone else in the group. and Lara does all the cooking, planting and harvesting even though I have tasked others to help so everyone should be in love with her.
I like the over all concept of this game but constant micromanagement of the attitudes of a bunch of drama queens is a little over the top here. You really need to tone down the management aspect of some of this love/ hate stuff. This is a good training game for psychoanalysts and psychiatrists.
