Thunderstorms

Am I missing something? Do all of our survivors have lightning rods cybernetically implanted in the top of their heads? Are our wooden structures, or anything we craft really, laced with highly conductive materials at a nano/molecular level that we are not aware of?

I swear, each "year" more of my people and structures get nailed by lighting in a confined area than the average amount of people on our RL planet...The frequency that my people get struck, I'd swear they make it a point to go out during thunderstorms while carrying a lighting rod in each hand and one grafted to their head, just to insure they get hit.

There does seem to be a higher than realistic chance of someone getting struck by lightning. Perhaps they're subconsciously trying to increase their chances of winning the lottery by increasing the odds of being struck by lightning?

Yeah it's one of the big things turning me off of the game right now. There's not enough randomness. Any event on the map is just a giant bullseye on my survivors.

just build a few lightning rods around and done. You can even charge your batteries with them.

I usually use Ken (because of his double-yield scavenging) and I swear the gods hate him, because no matter how many times I start a new map, that dude just gets zapped every time.

Suggest you invest early in lightning rods....well worth it IMO.

Yes. Lightning Rods should be the first thing researched and constructed ASAP.

I put a lightning rod on top of a hill in the game.. and it never got hit by lightning.. but one of my survivors got double tapped..

in my current game - i had a thunderstorm start, just after building my starting shelters, and table/chairs.. hadn't built the research desk..

ken was eating e-rations at a table - lighting hit the chair next to him.. then the chair in front of him on other side of the table..

ken just kept eating. finished, got up and went to bed. lighting rod research got prioritized
