Some of these seeds..
The worst issue is the critters wandering from their spawn point to some remote corner and then just stripping your fence down..

Then there's the lightning strikes.. 2x in almost instant succession.. that's game over right there.

Then there's the meltdowns which largely occur for absolutely no reason. Had an argument with Vivian over her thoughts on DIY.. -9 really? You can have 10-12 positive thoughts but get 3-4 bad ones and they wander off into their own deaths. Short of punching their teeth in.. there is almost nothing you can do.

And it's the seed that is the problem, same people on different maps played in the same way.. no problems at all. Critters spawn in fairly decent distances, noone is bursting into tears over some pc game not running how they want, no wall stripping.. no zerg as insane beasties run right upto your house and smash it to bits.. just cause. Noone inside. The house just looked at them funny like..

It isn't even the difficulty level.. played the same map multiple times on all 3 difficulties.. all great games.. but some maps.. bleh. Just had one game, where anette went on a sad wander, then went berzerk, then knocked out the other 3 survivors.. then shriekers attacked.. and killed everyone.

Sometimes I just want to reach into my screen and nip their stupid little heads off..

My only problem that I am having with the game is the micromanaging is a bit over kill and I to find the A.I. more of a pain with there never ending problems with each other. Also, it's painful in trying to get the A.I.'s stuff from one location yo another. Most of the time they just will not do it.

NO MELTDOWNS!!!

Sleep : 22.00 - 02.00
Rest of schedule : Anything
No priorities below the value of 3 except healing.

... and you will never have to micro again apart from thunderstorms, surveying and the one who fails to get to bed in time in rare circumstances.

In 15 games or so I havn´t touched a character apart from the above exceptions, but do have some rooms ready before winter.

Proof of concept: https://youtu.be/tFecDezseiw

Don´t watch it though, I forgot to turn the mic off the first 20 minutes and you can hear me breathing, creepy, it´s merely meant as "it can be done easily proof", 2 of them are prone to low mood and I provide no entertainment, they eat in the rain and overall I am not very nice to them. The video continues until the rooms are ready.

PS : I also turn off hauling for any of the slow pokes if I have any, they are simply too slow to go anywhere apart from really near the base.

Yeh it's funny, that first lightning conductor, you tell Rita who is scavenging, she's just grabbed like 25 metal, so you direct her to build the conductor, she drops the metal and goes to chop wood, you redirect her to build, she grabs the metal and goes to the traps.. and you're like "NO.. THE CONDUCTOR" and she's like No, I wanna chop wood.. and you're like "FFS.. the CONDUCTOR.. lightning is coming" lol. You're all gonna die...

Then Carter turns up with more metal, drops it because you've told Rita to do it, I'm like omg.. someone.. anyone... build the damn conductor..

Yeh the slow ones I keep near the house as well, which puts you a man down sometimes. Get a slow poke hit by lightning twice and they're down to 25% movement, they look like granny getting around the house.

I have had one meltdown in the last many games using my method, I forgot to tell Talas to eat before issuing as survey order, that broke him ... so it was my fault.

When using the "anything" schedule the most important thing to remember is to not set any values below 3 in priorities apart from healing. You do that you will have meltdowns, this does not apply to the work/relax schedules but I stopped using them.

I found using anything produces more unhappiness in general, but maybe it is because I am grabbing them to do specific tasks etc. I also tend to use 1 and 2's in activities, I've been trying to use 3, 4 and 5 but they seem to just idle alot.
gutlor Nov 25, 2022 @ 2:10am
I found that to have any type of efficiency, I have to micromanage them all. I am almost in winter the first year of FARMER-TASK. Rita used the balloon to find 2 more survivors for a total of 6. At 75% happiness I have them sit, punch or take a walk. At 50% hunger I feed them. Get late on either one and they tend to get grumpy. They all sleep in their own 5X4 room with comfy bed. All my seasonal harvest is done so all that's left over winter is food and clothing. Keep them fed and warm and you should be good to go.

Yeh I tried the Anything min sleep method and activity at 3, it just doesn't work. They take forever to get anything done and on Medium Difficulty you need stuff done much faster. So I micro them as well, once the defences are up and coats are made, weapons etc, I'll revisit letting them do what they want but it just isn't workable for me.

Thank you for this video. :steamhappy:

You gave me a lot of good insight into the game and proof that I still have a lot to learn.

Thank you again!

Everyone thank you for all your feedback and any future feedback. :steamhappy:

I still have a lot to learn about this game, lol.

I always run into shortages of the electric circuits...I am like 40 short and I so rarely get them from scavenging and even if I have 3 people crafting them...that stuff breakfs quicker then I can craft them...this is totally out of balance...Either make crafting them quicker or make stuff break less quick :(
