Harvest cycle
When starting a new game I always make sure it has the necessary resources available to research, plant and sustain my population. Some are critical. Some are happiness related. I would like to know your opinion on your necessary planting schedule and harvesting preferences for success.
I like to have Fruit Bush identified the first day and planted by the second day. This is because it has the longest fruiting time and will pop in the winter, providing additional food at regular intervals without needing replanting. I plant one full sized field. Although they will require protecting.
The second is clothblossom, and the reason is, my goal is to have all my crafting indoors and all my storage under roof by the end of spring. This building is the maximum size possible. I want all my survivors in their own 5X4 private room by the end of summer, and I want all those rooms carpeted and supplied with beds as the clothblossom comes available as cloth. I plant 2 fields of this the first season.
The third is graincob. I want to make sure I get thru the first winter with as much bang for the time invested. I can make porridge and bread with this one harvest. I make 2 fields for this. All fields are specific for their harvests to avoid fertility conflicts.
I then hit buttermelon, skinbark and siliconleaf, in that order, to provide their own obvious benefits for wintertime prepping. I can get 2 harvests of siliconleaf, if researched early, but it just sits on the shelf thru winter as my team crafts winter clothing.
I just found chew roots, I think, and never dealt with the mushrooms on a large scale yet.
Let me know what you think.

year 1:
- buttermelons, they are plenty around and after researching can be harvested directly.
- long grass aka real grain, same as above can be harveted right away

Now you have enough food for the year (set ur cook to work)

- research muchrooms, fruit bushes, spiky plants and clothblossom.
- cut 3k wood and 1k stone (or only wood/stone, depending on the building you wanna make, i always do stone floor wooden walls and roof)
- build a 21x21 building with 8 - 5x5 rooms, kitchen on left, then living/work room, and storage room on the right

- place 4 - 6x6 farm field below your building (grain, butter melons, cotton, and mushrooms)
- make killbox/zone, place walls/fence from sides of you building to around the farm fields. If you got fields south, then make the kill zone south too, make sutre to leave enough space to expand your farm.

Set for endgame lol

later expand farm to have 1 - 6x6 cotton , 3 - 6x6 grain, 4 - 6x6 muchroom, 4 - 6x6 fruit bushes and 6 - 6x6 spike plants. Then you can do 1 - 6x6 leaves for tea and pipes, but you can better split cotton field in 2 - 3*6 fields and use cotton/leaves on them.

Gives more then enough to supply 8 people with chefs reciepes, booze, wine, pipes, etc

needed to expand storage, after i didn't need to additional space i cutted into it and added a workroom, and me being lucky only needing 5 rooms with 2 couples.
