Saw this guide and still can't get it to work. Window + R on desktop or in game does nothing, the appdata file is not accessible. I've changed all permissions to the steam file as well. Windows 10 if that makes a difference.
Your problem is not on the game, Win+R open the run command dialog box in windows.
Im on windows 10 too, it dont make a different, your problems is on how you install the games. if you still cant find it, its beyond the context here, you need a windows expert.
%appdata% are variables pointer to the actual file location and many people install windows differently.
On the default location, you can also try this on file explorer.
C:\Users\"your windows username or login name"\AppData\Roaming\Stranded - Alien Dawn
Open any file folder window. Look up for the address bar of your folder, and instead, enter in "%Appdata%". You will automatically be redirected to your "C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\" folder.
There you can find th LocalStorage.lua file in the Stranded - Alien Dawn folder.
Open your file and add Platform.cheats = true in the first place. Enter. Eventually add Platform.developer = true. Enter. So return { should be on the 2nd line (or 3rd if you addd the dev option line). Save and exit.
Then right click LocalStorage.lua and go to properties. Below your Properties activates the READ ONLY mode so the game wont overwrite it each time it launches. Apply. Mission successful.
Now you can launch SAD and load any save or go new game and activate the cheats window by pressing ctrl+c, ~, ², `, 7 or another key depending your keyboard region. You'll have to find out the usual key of your region. It's often used in games and will always be the same (like in NeverwinterNights for the old schoolers). Some regions require an altgr (or ctrl+alt) combinaison.
Steam hasn't done anything. The Devs removed the ability to cheat through this method. They suck.
What a shame they don't give a crap about the players. I will find another game to flex my modding skills instead.
If you start the Mod Editor you can load any game and keep the Mod Editor menu with you, it has some cheats.
