Finally got 7 survivors but how does AC work?
Ok after 50 hours played and starting a new game at least 10 times, finally got 7 survivors. Seems to be a good number. Seed is MOTOR-FIGURE. Started with Jack, Rita, Rakha, Talas. Yakko walk-in day 7. Carter and Maki found on Expeditions within first year.

Anyway, how does the AC work? Does the red arrow go towards the room or exhaust outside? Also do I use a switch or a thermostat? Everything on the same circuit? I had 10 AC units on my big structure and the temperature got to 120° during a heatwave? It was set to 76°. People were getting heat stroke, even in carbon armor lol.

You had the AC facing the wrong way probably, the red arrow is the exhaust and points out

Ok thanks, how does the thermostat work? Do I keep it on the same temperature and circuit as all the AC units?

Air conditioners are set to their own "turn on" temperature. Thermostats are great for heaters, so that they are turned off when the temperature hits a specific number.

AC's do it built in.
Heaters need help to turn off.

House temps work alot better after the patch. I use the stick walls inside my house, as they have terrible heat resistance so the whole house with some vents is quite balmy.

I only usually have a fireplace and later on a couple of ac's. Plus one set to -10 in my room fridge.

Okay I understand. Makes sense, thanks

Good idea. I guess I have some rebuilding to do. Never thought about a cold room. Hopefully the food will last indefinitely like it's in a freezer.

I use the AC for refrigeration, build a reasonable sized room put racks for storage in and set the AC temp to 14F All is great until the power starts acting up. And as mentioned red arrow points out or you will cook your survivors, I had to figure that out the hard way :)

ACs have a cpu though, so a solar flare during winter can be deadly. I put heaters instead set to a different circuit then toggle them with a manual switch as needed.

well that explains my 109F rooms

If you make a freezer room double door it. You don't need to double wall it like in rimworld but you need the second door. I have had my freezer room raise from -10 to +5 just with the comings and goings of the survivors. If the game detects a hole temps fly up.

7 pop is the usual minimum pop. U just need to reload a few time to get them. The new limit should be around 10. My current one without much reloading is 9.
