Are storage slots and shelves bugged?
So it seems that I can't get my survivors to put anything in the storage slots or shelves.

I was able to in the beginning of the game. Survivors were able to put stuff into slots. Then I made shelves and forbade certain things like raw and cooked foods and rations, and the survivors began stocking shelves. But now I have made a lot of shelves that has lots of empty space, and stuff isn't being put into shelves. I didn't forbid anything other than things I didn't want; survivors should be putting food and the things I want except raw materials and construction stuff. That stuff I allow into the basic storage slots, but they aren't putting things there, just leaving things out in the fields. Even food isn't being picked up. So I now allow everything to be placed in the storage slots, and the survivors aren't picking things up and storing them.

So, what gives? Has anyone run into this issue where after awhile, survivors stubbornly won't stock anything, despite changing to "accept all"?

Double check to make sure in the priorities you still have survivors allowed to haul things, just in case it got unchecked somehow? Otherwise it might be a bug, I'd report it just to be safe.

I had something similar happen where I had 7 survivors all change clothes en masse one morning toward the end of fall. Their old clothes were everywhere all over the floor of their puny 10x12 cabin, and the game was not happy about it.

They would just walk around in circles saying they were going to haul an item, then once they got to that item they switch to hauling a different item, and just kept doing that over and over without actually hauling anything. It's like the game was broken once there were too many things lying around not on shelves.

Sounds like you may have more than one thing going on. first are you using simple mode for priorities? if so change ti to advanced that allows you to control activities much better. As Spacedog suggests verify you have the option that allows transport (DELIVER) set high enough. Also check you haven't accidentally checked the Keep Empty option on the storage system options. The last one will bite you if you copy a storage item that has been set to keep empty, now you have a bunch of useless storage containers and no clue why. Don't ask how I know.

Having the same issue. They transported to the storage fine after they were first built but sometime after the 3rd wave the npc's lost their pathing logic.

I've seen this behaviour when there was only one place allowed for a specific item type, and it got blocked for some reason. The survivors don't seem to check if there is a route to storage, they just check if space is available, go pick up the item, and then try to path to the storage, fail, so drop the item, pick it up again, rinse and repeat!

In my case, I had a storage chest next to my balloons, only fuel allowed, and this was the only place it was stored. For some reason I never figured out, pathing stopped working, and they just left fuel all over the place! Pickup, drop, pickup drop etc etc.

I ended up building a new chest (I avoided doing a copy of the old one just in case something was bugged with it), directly next to the old one, selecting only fuel again, and fuel started getting delivered again. I then selected the old chest, and turned off fuel (so nothing was now allowed), and they emptied it, I then deconstructed it. Worked fine after that!

Before you report it as a bug try this. Go to manage, activities, and set all to deliver 1, then lower all other priorities and see if they remember how to stock shelves. Might take a couple of min to clear their pending ques before they start transporting stuff. You might be amazed at what is out in the sticks just rotting away.

I do this periodically anyway. I've been doing things like mining nest for carbon, jobs completed days earlier! Then I notice that the top of the screen says I have 100s in stock, but I can only see 20 or something in storage and armour or weapon crafting has stalled!

Bump delivery up to 1 for everyone for a little while, and suddenly all the storage is filled up, and the fields and woods are cleared of raw food and construction materials that were lying around.

So I just do this automatically maybe twice a year now.

Would be nice to have an option to toggle display dropped/forgotten items before the message 10 electronics just rotted away pops up

There must be something with your installation, no matter if my goods are on shelfs or on the ground, crafting/constructing should not stall if you have all required good available....

When I said stall, I mean that for example someone crafting a weapon would walk half way across the map to pick up carbon that no one had bothered to put in storage yet. I've had other people head off to the woods to pick up wood on the ground, to craft something with, despite there being wood in storage just a few squares away from the crafting station.

Forcing everyone to haul for a little while, clears up the issue.

For me, Emilen won't get the bug meat off the shelf (9 shelves with this designation) and take it to any one of the two crafting tables to craft synthetic cloth(#1 in her priorities). Instead, she picks it up and drops it on the floor in front of the shelf and queues up the #2 in her priorities(cooking). I have drafted her to both crafting tables; I know she has pathing access. Bug meat is bugged.

Hey all :)

If anyone's experiencing these issues, please report it in the in-game bug reporter (CTRL+F1). If it's *not* a bug, it's still a good idea to have the devs look into it just to make sure.
