For those having trouble setting up a good turret defense
I was going to throw together a written guide, but I thought it was easier just to record a few attacks and babble over mic about it.

The video is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAwMS4f7OKI

I'm not saying this is absolutely, 100% the best way to do it, but there are examples of the setup I go for dealing with early, mid and later game attacks. I added in some chapters for easy navigation to the specific parts. Plus, you get to listen to a Saaaf London boy trying to hide his accent :P

Also, be aware that everything I say in the video is just from my personal observation. It may well be factually incorrect, but you'll see the proof of concept for 3 different severity of attacks.

Anyway, just thought this might be useful for people struggling with the base defense aspect of the game. Dinner's up here, good luck in the game ^_^

Edit:
I'm adding quotes of posts here that are offering suggestions to do better setups. If anyone doesn't like the video setups, these might be a good alternative :)

Plus, if the mechanics change enough that I need to re-do the video, I'll test out suggestions and throw ones in that I find the most viable.

Using Mines. Bewm?:

Keep a gate open to let them path to you, but also make sure your guys aren't too near the edges or the bugs won't path the way you want them, they'll just go right through the walls at you.

The only beastie that got through this were 2 junos. They just seem to walk over mines etc. Horrible map tho, no trees.. or anything nice really.

Wider instead of longer, looks fun:

You should make a video showing all the vomit complainers how to select what your survivors can eat .. and select what raw foods go into recipes that you cook .. what it means to craft until or craft x amount. Apparently these are needed as well. OH .. nice video

Cheers! I mean, if it'd be helpful for people to see those sorts of tips I'd happily throw one out. To be honest though, I'd probably be embarrassed about posting up a second video here lol, always worried I'm going to give bad advice.

Ahh theres no ' bad advice ' ... Theres only mis-informed words of wisdom.

I suppose you could do a video then where you force them to eat glittercaps / raw meat / oil and fat and show them barfing up a lung.. and then show how when you choose to correctly keep them from eating bad food.... no vomiting .. the only reason I say this is because it appears to be a hot topic. And apparently people need to be shown how to keep from ' accidentally storing raw food products in storage ie- (not in a freezer) where you know your survivor will find it and eat it.

I honestly don't know enough to say for sure what is causing it or not, but I think I've found a few tricks that make life easier. I'll put something together and see if it feels like it's actually helpful or not. I'll probably get self conscious and not post it, but I'll definitely have a lookie-see into it!

Thanks for the idea ^_^

Useful video, well done!

Could just put the gun where the flamers are and not used them at all.

I find the flamethrowers are a massive force multiplier. Especially when you get into the hundreds of bugs region. They're also really easy to get hold of early in the game (I think they're 12h + fuel research).

But, as I said, this is just what I've found most useful - If you have a good setup for a single turret version please do post up a video. I'll throw a link in the description of this one and add an edit on the original post here. I'll probably remake this as versions and mechanics change, so I'll make sure to mention it and give credit. I'm not too proud to see when someone has a better design!

It couldn't possibly be worse than some of the strongly asserted gaming advice I've run into over the years.

I think you underestimate my level of incompetence, good sir!

I haven't actually used mines at all. I was planning to try them out, how many resources do they take to reset? And can your survivors set them off by walking over them?

Oh, nice! I hadn't thought of going wide instead of having a long killbox. Adding this to the list ^_^
