... Bandage, med kit, antibiotics is enough. I never make healing salve from muchrooms so that's not needed.
I got the popup at year 2, at year 8 ken had a cure lol, ken low healing skills, i said heal all, and right away noone had parasites anymore, my stock of bandaid, medkit, antibiotics stayed the same.
I am under the impression that shortly after making antibiotics, another pop-up window will state that the affected character becomes healed, without actually being "treated" by anyone in the physical sense. Or whomever has the highest heal ability helps her with it "off screen" per se. /shrug. It just happens automatically, I think. Just to be sure, I click on the afflicted colonist and under her description (Emelin is the colonist I usually pick as part of the starting crew), and there's no longer any description of brain parasites in her bio.
But strictly, I went with "not now", also whenever I was prompted.
Sleep parasite (also affecting brain) gets cured automaticaly once antibiotocs get discovered. May need some additional healing items to be known, but I am not sure.
Brain parasite is a separate issue, that pops up and if you dont give chems to try and poison the parasite, the second option may not appear again. I have Talas currently affected by it, I did not had enough items for the poison so I delayed this and so far the window did not reappear. Not sure what is needed to curw it.
Brain parasite is just like any other parasite or infection, it is curable - the question is only how to kill it with minimal damage to brain, as that is very sensitive thing, but since we are talking about age of space exploration, something like this is surely long resolved, especialy when cryochambers are taken into account, so yes - they should be curable in that world, but whether what is needed can be acquired by a stranded survivors on a planet which flora was dicovered literaly Just now is a bit too much - It would be more propably to get the required toxins and whatnot froma passingby ship rather than creating it from 0.
Anyway, I only did "not now" once and a second option never turned up. Poor Rita was just left with a mood debuff until the shriekers got her. I always say yes now and it's only failed once.
This thread is almost 1 year old, the game as been updated since...
There is another update possibility of the event: sometimes somebody reach lvl 5 on healing and suddenly says that he found a way to heal everybody with a new treatement, and then everybody get healed, nothing to do. its a random event, sorry for you, there is nothing else you can do (or reload a save?)
and for the supplies, i confirm ist 5 healing stuff needed, if you have 4 bandages and one antibiotic its enough you can heal.
Year 2, day 45 a cure was "found."
Just have to wait for it.
