As you can see, much more efficient.
The freezer frozen the items so it will not rotten / decay .
The fridge refrigerate the items but items will rotten / decay depending the item .
The only food I have seen rot in the freezer is food that was already rotting before it went in the freezer. Or from a malfunctioned freezer that was't repaired quick enough.
Same would happen with just a freezer or fridge would it not?
Fridge/freezers work throughout a solar flare though.... only cpu-powered devices get zoinked... coolers oth, shutdown for however long the solar flare takes...
Ah, I did no know that. I haven't had any solar flares on any of my playthroughs yet. Then yes, you'd be correct. But as others have said in other posts, if you make the room out of carbon it should be fine.
And honestly, you gotta look at the cost of power for multiple freezers, the maintenance requirements for the freezers and power producers, etc and compare it to just one room with one or two ac units. The risk of losing a room full of food is a risk, but a minimal one that'll save you time, resources, and you'll be able to store tons more food in the long run.
Besides, no one says you can't keep a freezer or two powered down as a backup in case a flare does happen. Just move all that you can into the freezers and power them up if such an event occurs, and then move everything back into the freezer room when it's over.
