The goal of the game is to get your survivors off the planet, not to colonize the region.
Unbelievable.. one peep got injured and decided to "flee" he then "ran" at a snails pace had to be rescued, got him back to the base and outside the base decides he wants to limp home.. so he died.. it's a stupid mechanic.
Fitting end to a crap playthrough, from the get go one of my 4 got hit by lightning twice in a row.. essentially removing her from the game. Then I got a 5th who didn't like going outside..
And yea, I don't know why its 'impossible' to get them off the planet... I've done so twice, this time around I'm just faffing about seeing how long I can hold of the waves. But it's possible, easily so honestly if you plan ahead.

How many survivors did you have? And what year did you start using the Orbital to extract them? By end of year 3 I was already getting waves of 150+ critters and 80+ flies plus continual attacks from the livestock.
https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1627794482 ; only 130d IG ; medium difficulty. 6 survivors left pods. Even solo survive wAves eZ
If it was so easy as you say, how come only 15% of players have even managed to build the landing pad? Can't be that easy if 85% can't even get that far.
Because wiping nests does nothing, unless you are wanting to farm nanotubes, having all survivors escape just turns the game into a tower defense game. Because you have to build enough defenses that they kill ever increasing size and strength waves without the survivors help until you get that last signal. Feels like strength and size of attacks should be attached to nests and depending on how long the nest has been around, that determines the difficulty of the wave.
