How to host a server?
Hi, I still play Unreal Tournament but I'd like to know how to create an online match or host a server so I can play with friends and/or the serveris shown on the multiplayer list. If anybody know, please answer me with details, thanks. :tooru:

Hi Allen,

I would recommend port forwarding, this works perfect for me.

1. Make a static IP on your computer.

- Choose your version of Windows and follow the steps in the tutorial.

2. Open some ports on your router and link them to your static IP.

- Select the type of router you use and follow the steps in the tutorial.
- You need to open these ports: 7777, 7778, 7779, 8080, 8777, 9777, 27900

3. Set up a game in Unreal Tournament
- Your friends can join the game by going to 'Multiplayer - Open location'.
- If your IP-adress is: '172.16.254.1' your friends have to type in: 'unreal://172.16.254.1:7777'

(If you don't know your IP-adress, type in the text "IP" in your browser, it will show your current IP-adress)

Hi Cosmic Zap, sorry for late reply. Does port forwarding via Windows Firewall works?
I made a static IP, it resulted that I could not connect to Internet after that, yet Skype worked and Steam was online but I couldn't open the store or any other web related content.

Thanks Cosmic_Zap! I Tried this and it worked like a charm. It took a little different configuration for my router, but it worked. Thanks for the info :):steamhappy:

sorry if im bringing back the dead here but, no matter what I do, no matter what I change, nobody can join my server. and i believe i port forwarded everything correctly but again im not sure.

@NyTR0S96

it is because this post is not detailed enough:

You need to open the ports
TCP: 7777,8080,8777,9777,27900
UDP: 7777-7779,27900

But you also have to specify if the ports are TCP or UDP. That was the missing piece for me. Let me know if it works for you and PM me on steam if you need help.

Port Forwarding has always been a nightmare and never worked for me. I tried it years ago, I've tried it various times over the years. It has never once worked. Bumping so this guide can maybe help others and I don't have time right now but I'll check it out later. Handicap Mod by Darkness (on moddb.com) for Unreal Tournament desperately needs to have a public server running (I'm the only one willing to run it I'm sure. Damn, modern games are amazing with their dead easy server-hosting.)
