I would recommend port forwarding, this works perfect for me.
1. Make a static IP on your computer.
- Choose your version of Windows and follow the steps in the tutorial.
2. Open some ports on your router and link them to your static IP.
- Select the type of router you use and follow the steps in the tutorial.
- You need to open these ports: 7777, 7778, 7779, 8080, 8777, 9777, 27900
3. Set up a game in Unreal Tournament
- Your friends can join the game by going to 'Multiplayer - Open location'.
- If your IP-adress is: '172.16.254.1' your friends have to type in: 'unreal://172.16.254.1:7777'
(If you don't know your IP-adress, type in the text "IP" in your browser, it will show your current IP-adress)
I made a static IP, it resulted that I could not connect to Internet after that, yet Skype worked and Steam was online but I couldn't open the store or any other web related content.
it is because this post is not detailed enough:
You need to open the ports
TCP: 7777,8080,8777,9777,27900
UDP: 7777-7779,27900
But you also have to specify if the ports are TCP or UDP. That was the missing piece for me. Let me know if it works for you and PM me on steam if you need help.
