Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition

Unreal Tournament 99 Not Working?
Hi again. :) I am referring back to this discussion because my game is having the exact same issues. I installed the game double click the shortcut... nothing happens. Not even the Recovery Window pops up. (Or at least I think that's what it is called.) One thing I forgot to mention is I use windows 8 and it use to work on the same operating system. Thanks for all the support!

don't get 451. Get 436 first. If you install the 436 patch properly you won't need the CD (though, it does need the CD to check before patching first IIRC)

If you manage to auto run it and install it, read below.

If not: Do tel lif the disc(s) are getting read.

Do you have the GOTY version(This comes with 2 discs. One containing UT and 1 containing extras such as mods).

Do not ever update to 451. That update is server side only, and may break your game.

I posted on OP all the stuff he do need + the proper patch which is the no delta patch.

1. Try to find official mirror or hash-sub of genuine file and then find it and download it from 3rd party site. Or wait for some help from community maybe they give you correct link.
2. Google "ut99 official patch" and just download it from any place on internet without hash-sum check :D
3. Buy it on Steam and play it. But enjoy many other issues because devs do not care about it for years.
4. Watch youtube with this game and enjoy some nostalgia. Then Alt+F4.
Or not..

Or just get the 436 no delta patch which as long as you install the full content from disc(s), is the best option.

All windows 8/10 require is some minor tweaks specifically for modern machines (EA game running to fast, or 'mouse' lag or whatever.

These are easy to fix.

No delta patch link:

http://www.ut-files.com/index.php?dir=Patches/&file=UTPatch436nodelta.exe

Also get updated open gl driver from:

http://www.cwdohnal.com/utglr/

3.6

Then, go and edit UnrealTournament.ini to the following and past this over the same section:
[OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice] Translucency=True VolumetricLighting=True ShinySurfaces=True Coronas=True HighDetailActors=True DetailTextures=True UseTrilinear=True UseS3TC=True UseTNT=True LODBias=0.000000 UseMultiTexture=True UsePalette=True UseAlphaPalette=True TrueMaxAnisotropy=16 AlwaysMipmap=False UsePrecache=False ZRangeHack=False AAFilterHint=0 NoAATiles=False NumAASamples=16 UseAA=True RequestHighResolutionZ=True MaskedTextureHack=True SmoothMaskedTextures=True SwapInterval=-1 UseFragmentProgram=False UseVertexProgram=False UseCVA=False UseMultiDrawArrays=False TexDXT1ToDXT3=False DynamicTexIdRecycleLevel=100 CacheStaticMaps=False UseTexPool=True UseTexIdPool=True UseSSE2=True UseSSE=True BuffertileQuads=False BufferClippedActorTris=True SinglePassDetail=False SinglePassFog=False ColorizeDetailTextures=False DetailClipping=False UseDetailAlpha=True DetailMax=0 MaxTMUnits=0 NoFiltering=False NoMaskedS3TC=False Use16BitTextures=False AutoGenerateMipmaps=False ShareLists=False UseBGRATextures=True UseZTrick=False MaxLogTextureSize=8 MinLogTextureSize=0 MaxLogVOverU=8 MaxLogUOverV=8 OneXBlending=True FrameRateLimit=60 RefreshRate=60Hz Translucency=True

Then start UT, change display driver to the newer OpenGL.

I know I could easily follow the previous advice, but because of all your support I'm deciding to start from scratch so I'll know what's best for me.

For people having problems to get the steam version to run on windows 10: When you choose the renderer, check the radio button that says all or something like that. There I had an openGL option, that worked. I couldn'y get DirectX or software rendering to work.
