It was clanbase. I ran pro 2000-2002. Top 5 world with netherlands team numerous times. and top 3 national/benelux for clanning with clans like FEB and ^KiK^.

There were so many communities, competitions and game modes and mods. I mostly played amongst the ZAR community (Zark Assault Rifle) since the troll will have no clue what that is. Fast paced non-stop action and that was my preferred game style.
Man! seriously the internet wasn't what it is today. Still primitive. Peeps didn't have to the tools, programs, videos uploaders like youtube and games sreaming that we have today. It was POSSIBLE to do it, but it was so basic and painfull that no one really bothers, too much assles. You won't find really find any videos of online games from 1999.
For example, EVERYTHING, boards, forums, leaderboards, tournament results webpages have been canned by Seganet for the UNREAL TOURNAMENT 1999 Grandmaters Tournament 1 & 2 ....and don't even try to find a video of a single matches there.

I played regulary with and against these guys. They were definilty pros when it comes to the Dreamcast version.
A little history note here: Quake 3 on the Dreamcast was cross-platforms meaning that Dreamcast and PC players were playing together on the same servers. No need to say that PC'ers were owning us.. LOL.

QuakeCon 2000 and UT WCG 2001. Dude, if you are an actual pro, I am sure there would be at least some evidence. I had footage of myself playing Mortal Kombat 1 back in 1999-2000. Here is a list of top UT99 players: GitzZz, Shaggy, xspain, R0X, eVeNfLoW, SLXC_XaN, DeaD, Gen, Lauke, gnegne, Vicious, Falcon, Neutro, septicflesh.
See, even you found some evidence for the console players! However these guys, claim to be pros without any proof. Yeah right, pros my ♥ss. They are nothing but a bunch of attention wh♥res. One of the world's top five champions? Please. Don't make me laugh.

I won every tournament from 2000 till 2002, but now I am a lame old fart that spends time on the forums trying to boost my own ego through lies, to make people believe, that I was an actual pro.

Since when does posting videos mean its proof? Go look up nationscup. Alot of infromation was exclusive to clanbase. THats why people 'dont' know alot of the old pros anymore. And truth be told, I could care less if I am not known. WCG is about the only major offline event that was there for UT.
Nationscup was under clanbase and online, not over lan just like any other clanbase event. We went to lans like Networking day and Campzone which was still back in the day outside of Walibi.
We got third in IV (2001) and won various ladders in both the 2v2 and 5v5 systems. And our 2v2 team existed of mainly ITDM players?
Glad you typed it. This troll is just out for some attention. Hence why i'm not bothering with a huge wall of text telling him how idiotic he is. Clearly he is very butthurt over something, maybe because he was never apart of UT community? Had no friends or stories to tell? He definitely has some serious rage-roid issues and should seek professional help. To be so angry and mad over something as a discussion where NO ONE is claiming to be a pro. Back on topic. Zark community is mostly what I experienced in UT99. I played that in a few clans for years and thats what I did all my UT competitions with, online. Had no means of income or travel options to be apart of the LAN events, even though I was invited to some in Cali. Wish I could have experienced that. So *tips hat* to those who did and I envy that you have those experiences.
I found the UT community, at least the parts I saw of it to be quite enjoyable with very little toxic elements. These days that's a whole other story, games and discussion boards are riddled with toxic people (hence Raidakk). However, I must say I learned a lot about servers back then, helping to setup some with clan members.
If I wasn't playing Zark, typically i'd be playing around with other mods, maps and custom content for the game. That's what I loved the most was how involved the community was, incredibly dedicated and damn did some of them create some wicked stuff. However, playing UT99 with no mods and just the normal setup/mechanics, I rarely did that online, it was often slow and boring. If i played single player, it was max bots + addbots while in game on godlike, just to keep it interesting.

..saying you were in some top notch clans? how the ♥♥♥♥ do you get "HEY LOOK AT ME I AM PRO" from that? I was simply saying who i was in that game and throwing names out there in case anyone i knew happened to read this and want to get in touch. i certainly wasnt swinging my ♥♥♥♥ around so you could measure it..if i was lying...wouldnt you say there would be a ton of people on here by now crying "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥T!!!!" no...instead...my post got me in touch with a few of my old school buddies who i am now playing Black ops 3 with after work... mission accomplished
and what if i was pro? do you honestly think that those guys you mentioned were the only pros to play UT 99.lol... a game that millions played and thousands competed in professionally? gimme a ♥♥♥♥in break...i watched infinite at UltraUnreal in columbus Ohio smoke xspain in a friendly 1v1 like he wasnt ♥♥♥♥. you are smoking meth if you think that only those 5 mother ♥♥♥♥ers you mentioned are the only ones worthy of posting on here or anywhere for that matter and being proud of who they were in that game and the fun they had...you were a tadpole in a very large ocean , and it looks to me as you were probably one of the jackass troll Quakers who helped destroy the community and the game itself. I was playing with those guys and taught Infinite how to play back at Heat.net where Unreal and UT started, where its first clan base was formed and where the very first UT aimbot was detected, <BMF> SaTaN was aimbotting during a clan match against -ViRuS- with an aimbot he admitted was using since the first Unreal and one that he got directly from DrSin, the man who created the original FPS aimbot, and i highly doubt you were even there or even played the game then.
and btw...you talking ♥♥♥♥ and telling the guy who played Zark he was nobody and then claiming you dont even know what zark is was pretty entertaining and made me laugh.....ZArk is what everyone played after they turned UT into a gay ♥♥♥ Quake clone and destroyed the franchise. the Zark players kept UT alive while nubs like you were practicing your dumbass wall jumps using your stupid ♥♥♥ railgun ripoff's (lighning gun ) in ut2k3/2k4/2k7 ...

No one is claiming to be a pro? YOU are claiming to be a pro. You did say that you ranked really high and played against the best players in the entire world and did well. That's the same as claiming to be a pro. Why would I be bothered about not being a part of the UT community? I can go and join the toxic UT4 community any day. Besides UT99 is one of the worst arena shooters there is. CPMA outmatches UT1 in every single aspect. I have got friends, alright, but they all play military shooters, so there is that. I don't think I need any professional help, as I talk to you ret♥rds for fun, not because I am a raging idiot.

So you think UT2k4 is for noobs? Hahaha, that's the funniest thing I have ever heard. UT2k4 almost reaches the glory of Q3. UT1 is a game for handicapped people, that couldn't play Quake 3. I watched a zark video on youtube. It's a mod that makes your sniper rifle into a machine gun. That's just... that's just sad.

Competitions with "SOME", do you understand that word?.. SOME of the greatest players in the entire community worldwide. If I claimed to be a pro (never did), i'd know exactly where I ranked, there would be no doubt and no question. Went 1 on 1 with ONE of the best top 10 players worldwide (in the Zark community since that's what I was talking about), I said again, nothing about being a pro and I did pretty well. If I claimed to be a pro, I would have won. Now look, I doubt you'll understand any of this, but I pity you for your incredibly low intelligence level so I felt I should explain it with some more detail, but even then you still won't get it.
Thankfully for me I haven't wasted any time here discussing UT99. On the other hand, you've wasted a lot and it's sad you have to make things up to attempt to pick a huge fight on the internet over a game from over a decade ago. So clearly you need some serious help for anger issues, but also see a therapist or something. Sad sad individual.

@Kazama: Short of one sad excuse of a human, this thread would have stayed non-toxic and filled with actual UT players from back in the day. But sadly there always one special kind that has to ruin it for others. Sadly steam is riddled with that filthy mongrel type, so I expect it on any thread decide to click on. You would have enjoyed UT99 community, thankfully it was very rare to ever experience anyone like that.
Well in fact when I say "it's very informative" I mean it's interresting for me to learn about these tournaments, clanbase, etc... on UT99
Anyways, just for the records, I quit consoles gaming 10 years ago for PC. I registered to the UT 4 pre-alpha and kinda like it so far. It's close to UT99.
I've always gone back and forth with gaming, PC for things such as UT99, grew up on a lot of C&C like games as well via the PC. Console experience was the Ninento and Super Nintendo to begin with, of course Mario/Yoshi games among others. From there PS1/N64. Didn't do much for years until I got a PS3 still have that and now an XBOX one. Other than UT99, i've found I enjoy the majority of FPS games on console now. I guess I could just hook up xbox controller to pc and use that too.
Now i'm awaiting for my new gaming desktop to be built, have a couple parts in the mail, mostly waiting for the GTX 1070 to arrive. Then i'll be primarily back on pc for gaming, especially for No Mans Sky on August 9th, really excited for that one.
