In unreal tournament you fight against human players earth
Both games also have different weapons and maps
i guess comparing Unreal to Halflife makes sense. both a mainly singleplayer games, in both you are mostly alone fighting against all kinds of aliens and avoiding traps while exploring.
and there is a multiplayer feature, but no one plays it anymore because Unreal turnament is far better at that.
also the game's name is just "Unreal". the 'gold' was added later because the game is bundled with an expansion pack, so it's a gold edition
the one weapon i miss from Unreal, is a minigun that shoots crystals, and secondary fire launches them like a shotgun, pretty damn neat...
but hey, Unreal turnament has a flak cannon which is bascially a shotgun, with bouncy pellets, and a grenade launcher...
Unreal-Turnament is mostly about multiplayer yes. but there's still a pretty fun singleplayer campegin where you fight against bot players in athe "grand turnament"
P.S halo always focused on singelplayer... so its not like Unreal Turnament.
best comparsion to unreal turnament wolud be Quake 3, and left4dead
I watched my friend play Half-Life on Twitch, we were both very bored, all you do in that game mainly is platforming, which I'm horrible at but the game did a good job of it for 1998, I never enjoyed jumping on objects all day though, so I much prefer Unreal/Quake
That's very cool thanks for that info, very informative
I never knew there was a crystal chaingun @c@
The flak cannon is pretty cool, and good (the grenade launcher part of it is weak though), seems like most people use rocket launcher, I do miss Unreal 2004 though, my laptop now overheats while playing it and to me it's way better, I don't even want a good laptop I just want one that can play old or indie games without overheating (also I want to play them on max settings not medium)
Thanks very much, the tournament mode is a nice addition (for single player), but since it's not story based it feels like it'is not worth the effort, unless you don't have internet then it seems like a great idea for 1998 (or whenever Unreal Tournament came out), btw is there an Unreal Tournament Vanilla or is 'Unreal Tournament GOTY' the only Unreal Tournament?
Halo's emphasis was always multiplayer, ask anyone, that's not to say that the single player wasn't good, whether it was split-screen, 4-Player PvP, LAN (16 player) or XBOX LIVE Halo was the main reason XBOX survived all the way up to the 360 (then died when the XBONED came out because by that point everyone was sick of tired ass Halo and wanted the PS4 exclusives)
The bots themself in Unreal Tournament are great, you couldn't customize bots in Timesplitters, I didn't have a PC when I was young, back then no one in my family knew anything about computers or internet and no one could afford it anyway, plus they weren't portable like consoles so my family avoided comptuers until the late 2000s
I had family consoles, any consoles I had throughout my childhood I bought with my own money (that was usually given to me by my brother or grandmother), so I had a family PS2, I had games very similar to Unreal Tournament and Quake that I bought used from GameStoppo, the ones I had were TimeSplitters: Future Perfect (the best FPS I've ever played til this day, to me it's like Unreal Tournament on steroids) and Red Faction II (it was okay, I enjoyed it considering the fact that it's a clone of Quake, and its saving grace was the fact that 5% of the time you shot terrain it would be destroyed
The Liandry mining coprporatoon hosted bar fightings to reduce violence among their low class workers
Eventually the fights stated to attract many viewers to the point Liandry started to focus just on organizing these fights until proffesinal leuge was formed andva grand tournament was declared
You are just one of the contenders in hopes of beating the enigmatic champion Can kriegor
The game opening narration
And the character and map level descriptions before every new mission give a lot of interesting lore and backstosry
Unreal Gold was a singleplayer game with an optional multiplayer component. Unreal Tournament is a multiplayer game with no singleplayer component, you just have bots and a ladder. It's like comparing Half-Life to Overwatch.
