foxWSFix99 v1.1.1 - Widescreen Support for UT'99
Hello! Here is a small mod that enables widescreen support for Unreal Tournament 1999. This mod is entirely client-side and should be compatible with most mods.

Please note that as this mod is entirely client-side and loads custom code, there is always a chance that a server may be unhappy about this and kick your client. While this shouldn't be an issue, please keep it in mind regardless. :)

It functions very similarly to the widescreen fix previously released for UT2004:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2315846599
    Features:
  • Aspect-correct "Hor+" FOV adjustment, including weapon zoom values
  • Aspect-correct rendering for first-person weapons
  • Aspect-correct mouse sensitivity (auto-adjusts on resolution change)
  • Entirely client-side - no mutators required

Interested? Check it out here!
Latest Release: v1.1.1 (2021-10-31)

Enjoy!

Will this make it into the v469 patch at some point?

I don't recall sensitivity changing with resolution.

Thank you for your continued and great contributions to these games.:cleancake::steamhappy::cleancake:

After installing this, I can't zoom in with the sniper rifle anymore, not sure why. Right clicking with the Enforcer and other weapons work, but not the sniper zoom.

The most stupid installation guide ever.

How to install this ♥♥♥♥? It's not working & the installation notes are a joke.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Which parts are you struggling with? Are you not able to find UnrealTournament.ini ?

Install the 469c patch from OldUnreal…
https://github.com/OldUnreal/UnrealTournamentPatches/releases

Has everything you need to run UTGOTY on modern systems and is officially, legally accepted as official by Epic (OldUnreal was assigned volunteer maintenance for Unreal Gold and UTGOTY).

OldUnreal took over maintenance of the Unreal Tournament code base after reaching an agreement with Epic Games in 2019.

I have found the file, that''s not an issue. Where do you exactly copy the files from the '" Src"" folder?
fox Dec 3, 2022 @ 2:59pm
Oops - ignore those! They're just the source code for the mod[github.com], so that others can make changes to the code if they'd like.

Hi Fox,
Thanks for your reply.
It works now.

Just to make it more clear.

1. Download the patch foxWSFix99-v1.1.1.7z from github.

2. Extract it.

3. Only copy the " foxWSFix99.u " file from the " System " folder directly into the " System " folder of the Unreal Tournament GOTY.

Ex: E:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Unreal Tournament\System

4. In the same folder, open: System\UnrealTournament.ini and find the following line:

Console=UTMenu.UTConsole

Replace it with the following:

;Console=UTMenu.UTConsole
Console=foxWSFix99.foxUTConsole

Close and Save the file.

4. After that, launch the game, open the console with " ~ " and type:

SetRes 1920x1080

Hope this helps :)

this definitely doesn't work with the GoG version; what a mess.

What's giving you trouble? I actually developed this on the GoG version, who knows where my original CD is :P

That sounds like how the vanilla game behaves without the fix. Would you mind double-checking the installation steps? Try this post above: https://steamcommunity.com/app/13240/discussions/0/2993169283946758056/#c3720565944182963352

Is it possible to run the game in 21:9 at 3440x1440? I couldn't go any higher than 1080p not even 16:9 1440p
fox Jan 17, 2023 @ 2:42pm
You should be able to via "setres 3440x1440" in the console (~ key). The OldUnreal patches should also improve the resolution drop-down: https://github.com/OldUnreal/UnrealTournamentPatches/releases/

Hope this helps!

Reinstalling the mod seems to fix that issue somehow
So now the viewmodels are working properly. But i have another issue where I'm using OldUnreal patch and with this fix, i can't start a practice session, basically it loads me into the game but i can't get past the getting ready screen since pressing enter does nothing. This doesn't apply to Tournament mode somehow.
