Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition

Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition

Dual monitor display issue.
I now have two monitors. I tried running Unreal Tournament: Game of the Year Edition. It seems to run, but it doesn't display properly. Instead it just minimizes. I never had a problem when I had a single monitor when playing Unreal Tournament. Is there a way to fix this display issue?

Not really sure, but I know whenever I had issues with UT not launching in general I experimented with different video devices. Might be a red herring, but perhaps it doesn't like your other monitor specifically (and/or the fact that it's running with multiple monitors).

See here for instructions on changing video device:
  1. Go the the same folder where the above config file is:
    <path-to-game>\System\

  2. Open the testapp.exe file (Unreal Tournament First-Time Configuration).

  3. In the window, click the Show all devices option button and try selecting other 3D devices in the list (e.g. Direct3D, OpenGL, Software Rendering etc.)

For me, I had to change it to Direct3D, but make sure to try all the options.

  4. Once you've selected a 3D video device, click Next.

  5. Confirm your video card and DirectX configuration, and then click Next.

  6. Check the performance options, and then click Next.

  7. Click Run! to launch the game.

  8. If it fails launching again, retry steps 1 - 7 until you have a device that works.

Otherwise, another shot in the dark, you could try using the Unreal DirectX11 Renderer Tool (see PCGamingWiki[www.pcgamingwiki.com]):
D3D9/D3D11/OpenGL/High Res/Widescreen Fix
Installing the Unreal DirectX11 Renderer allows you to play the game in high-resolution, widescreen, and Direct3D 11. There's also D3D9 and OpenGL renderers[www.cwdohnal.com]. Be warned that when playing online you may be kicked from servers using anti-cheat plugins.

If you haven't replaced the video renderers, you are trying to use DirectX 7 which is why it does not behave on modern machines
The official home for Unreal and UT99 updates is https://www.oldunreal.com, where the new renderers and patches are made.
