I looked at steam guides, but they all resolve around what i was doing already, candle + rogues/unstable fusions.
Though if you choose the Ritual Candle method, you can also just turn off autosave. It shouldn't save after the battle so you can return to menu without saving. That way you can go in, check, then smoke bomb out and return to main menu. I have NOT personally tried this though, so make sure you test this without using a candle first to see if it autosaves without the setting first. Also you can try to sacrifice astral tapes & check the shoreline areas. I don't know if thats more effective, but all the math I've seen on Monster vs Type doesn't account for the Local Monster thats always in the fusions.
