So I'm about ready to give up on Completion
I'll start off the bat by saying I freaking LOVE this game. 5 Stars, 10/10 GOTY material for me.

It's rare nowadays that I like a game so much that I wanna go for 100% completion, but I fell in love with it so much I Wanted to go for it. I did notice all the achievements, but realized how fast I was getting them and thought that most were just extra one's you were guaranteed to get in the long run. Oh how wrong I was.

Let's start off with the biggest problems. Bootlegs. When I saw that you needed to get 1 of Every type of bootleg out there, it was the first red flag of the game for me. I've played pokemon before, so I knew there must have been a way to make it easier if you caught one of every monster.

Somehow the developer's made the situation both Better and Worse for what equates to Shiny hunting. The Candle's are both a Good idea to make the process easier by guaranteeing you can get a Bootleg of your choice. It's worse because the price of getting a candle is Insane. 50 Fused Material, for 1 candle.

Even if you were lucky enough to get a few on your journey (which I was), you'd still need between 500-700 Fused Material to get All the bootleg's. Except that's not even helpful, because you also need a Glitter Bootleg. And there are No Glitter Monster's in the game. So you Still need to pray to the RNG God's you can Get one.

Good news, I Got a Glitter Bootleg. Bad news, I still need to either grind an insane amount of fused material or get lucky to finish the achievement's.

But ya know what, that's not even the worst part. The worst part is the Bounty Board request's. These are just...bad. There's no real way to put it. They're supposed to be these repeatable quest's that let you keep playing with optional objectives. But the objectives are Terrible.

They range from either mind numbingly easy to insane levels of difficult. There's no consistency to them. Stuff like delivering packages or showing a specific 5 star monster is fine. Even fighting Rogue Fusion's and the like are okay, even if doing all these earns you no Extra fused material. So...what's even the Point of the bounty board? You might get 1 extra out of the Thousands your gonna need overall. (yay?)

There are Some story based bit's in there, which I'm sure is leading up to something. But I have to grind the bounty board in order to unlock them. Which again, would be fine, except for the Worst quest in the game being on them. Hunting a Specific type of Monster. And the Monster type is Completely Random, along with how many you have to Take Down.

This is what burnt me. If you could just Get Rid of these quest's and grab a new one, it would be fine. But no, you Have to do them in order to unlock the 100 board achievement and finish whatever story line bit's are locked behind the board. And I was never more upset with the game until it asked me to do 1 specific thing. 1 thing that I just had to say "are, you, kidding me?"

The game asked me to hunt 8 Brushrooms. Eight, Brushrooms! The Very Rare monster that only shows up in 1 spot on the map that you can only run into 1, At, A, Time! It's at this point that I Know the developer's did Not think very hard about they're post-game content, and hit the Random/Grind button Way too much in order to pad out the game over-all.

And I just don't feel like I Can anymore. I love the game, but the amount of hours it would ask me to grind for would be so ridiculous, I'm fairly certain I'll lose interest before I even get Close to the hidden achievement's.

It's really a shame, because like I said, I Wanted to love this game so much and recommend it 100%. But after trying to complete it, I can safely say that anyone who Is a completionist should stay Far away from this game. It's true I've put hundreds of hours into games in the past, but those had such a great gameplay loops that I Wanted to stay. And while I Do Like the gameplay in this game, playing it for extended periods really shows you the little flaws that make it a great game to Play. But not a great long term experience.

gonna assume you never made it to the "Pinnacle of Evolution" achievement, where you're either gonna love or hate bootlegs

Pinnacle of Evolution isn't too bad, but you are essentially required to use a save scumming and 1 candle to do it.

The one-of-each-bootleg and 100 board quests are kind of obnoxious yeah. Rare-spawn monsters should be blanket excluded from extermination missions I agree.

Apparently the reward for a certain fight that nobody actually knows how to trigger yet is a special version of the Master Ball equivalent that also turns them into an Astral bootleg. Presumably for the sake of this achievement, but again only the devs currently know what causes the shadowy doppleganger of your character to attack instead of vanishing.

Seeing as I'm already not a fan of Bootlegs from an Achievement stand point, I can only assume it's something much worse from this statement alone.

Which is only turning me More off from completing the game. Which isn't a bad thing, just disappointing.

Long story short, you need to remaster a specific bootleg type of a specific monster with the only hint being the existence of the desired monster as an NPC.

ima take a wild guess and say our much needed friend is a train station manager, and somehow linked to the astral plane.

Despite 100%ing the game, I definitely agree. The candle is only worth if you save-scum but I find it interesting that Xbox app version doesn't require Bootlegs to 100% achievements.

There are also way too many board quests. You can easily halve the quests needed and the game would be better for that. The only thing that made this part tolerable is lowering both difficulties all the way down, and knowing that the "kill x monster in this area" quest doesn't actually mean you have to kill them in that area.

Anyways, there's no point to force yourself to grind the game if you feel like it's going to make the experience unenjoyable.

@nextgener some good news for you.

With 1 candle you can get all* the bootlegs.

1) Backup your save game.
2) Get a fire bootlget. Get achievement.
3) Copy in your save game from backup
4) You got your candle back, but lost your fire bootleg. Achievement retained. Get a water bootleg.
5) Repeat 3&4 until you have all non-glitterbootlegs!
6) Restore your save one last time to keep the candle for Pinnacle of Evolution.
What you said about glitter is true, so probably not worth doing this until you luck into a glitter bootleg to save time.
