Been bumping into enemies in the Mt Wirral Caves for 2 hours trying to get this guy to spawn and still nothing. Is there something specific to it? Night/Day? Specific monster buddy to bump into?

There's nothing special about it, it's just rather rare. It can take awhile to show up.

Yeah sometimes it also shows up as an unidentified fusion in the area just outside town too.

Took about 3 hours of just grinding that cave but finally found one. Devs, if you read this: his spawn rate is horrible. For future players, please up his chance of popping in. This wasn't fun.

You don't need to strictly do caves. It could've spawned in a fusion, that's how I got mine.

I got mine by taking out all my start of battle passives and just fleeing from battles repeatedly if no Kepri showed up. It only took about 10-15 minutes doing that (and fighting the odd battle where the flee chance started to decay from 100%).

Then I found that after you progress the board quests a bit you get a quest called "Here Comes the Sun" which opens a new cave, which is littered with them. With hindsight that's the route I'd recommend.

God bless random. I found Khepri as a fusion in the Park before i even visited the west side of the world.
