The shadows that look like you are a bit of a mystery. Sometimes they'll attack you, with a team that mirrors your own. No idea what causes them to appear or what triggers them to attack. I've only seen them disappear myself.
Fused material to next level 0 means you need to finish a round of quests on the board, because you've got enough material to level up.
I haven't seen the statue you're talking about though! Sounds like an good mystery to solve.
The Ranger Board is post-game content so don't worry about that until you finish the main story and take on the remaining ranger captains. If you're already postgame then finish the quests on the board to advance its level.
edit: I see someone beat me to it before I could finish typing lmao
Based off the real life legend of the same, It vanishes when you get near it but there's a 1% chance it will become hostile and pursue you if you get too close.
The Black Shuck, as mentioned by Fortuna, copies your team and has a permanent 'ghost' status effect on top of every monster on it's team being an Astral bootleg, so make sure you have some tapes with you that can attack ghostly enemies.
It's also worth pointing out that the Black Shuck can drop a really good tape upon it's defeat that guarantees a successful recording of a monster, so defeating it is worth the trouble.
